the only reason i might change my turntable mat is that the cork and rubber mat from turntable lab looks incredibly interesting and i think my problem with the VMP cork mats was that VMP have NO IDEA how to ship a cork mat without making it easy to bend into a warp

i bought a cork mat thinking that it would cut down on static and I didn’t get that result.

My short list of phono stages under a grand:
  • Lindemann limetree phono (Discounted $932.50 inclusive of tax)
  • Moon 110LP V2 (MSRP $575 + tax)
  • Parasound Zphono XRM (Discounted price $750 + tax)
I'm still considering the Musical Fidelity MX-VYNL phono preamp but I'm not going to hold my breath since Jason is unable to get a hold of the rep after several attempts. 😕 Furthermore Musical Fidelity products appear to be difficult to obtain in these parts of the world 🌎 for some reason, unless it's the entry-level LX2 LPS MM

Can you get Graham Slee in Canada? The Era Gold and Reflex are worth a demo. Plus you can get them with mono buttons built in.

I've also previously owned a Trichord Dino which, until it died, was pretty neat.

I would have to check as I'm not certain. But thanks for the rec. 👍

OK... Who uses an audio specific surge protector/ power supply and how guilable am I for even considering one?

Me... I use an audio specific power strip/conditioner. So as gullible as I am...

This is the one I have, don’t judge me too harshly...

I also got this veritable bucket of a cable tidy box to put it in and hide a lot of the cable mess in.

Bosign Cable Box XXL, White 46 x... Bosign Cable Box XXL, White 46 x 21.5 x 24.5 cm. Plastic, silicone.: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools

It did make a difference, it quietened the soundstage down and got rid of the last bits of hum that I had. A good final touch but nowhere near as effective as actual gear upgrades!
