Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

It will get more bright as the impedance goes up. It’s kind of backwards to what one initially thinks, but the cartridge is actually loaded more at lower numbers. 47k is “wide open” and keep in mind 0 ohms is a dead short if that helps wrap your head around it.
I think @kvetcha is on to something in this instance though. I would liken the change to changing to higher quality cables in a guitar rig. This high end goes up by default as you are getting more unhindered signal, but I was getting more of everything. I tried it at 100 too. So in this instance it's like getting a bit more meat in the mids/bottom but along with it comes brightness. The ART-9 was not like that. I was able to sweep through on the Tube Box when I was tinkering with the ART and the sound just came to bloom at 200ohms and then got thinner from there. I think the key on this cart is the sweet spot. 1000 was just a tad much for me, but I bet 470 would be perfect.

For the record I realize the guitar cable is capacitance not loading, but that's the audible change to me in this instance.

As someone who is still learning about cartridge compliance, the ART appears to be of pretty high compliance, and the SoundSmith pretty low. The studiodeck arm is in the heavier end of the spectrum, which seems like a bad fit for the ART, yet it seems to work for you. I'm confused.
Me too. It’s sounds awesome is all I know.

Awesome! A nice little discount too! I’ll be interested to hear what you think too!
I really like dealing with Upscale, every time I purchase something they send a "Thank you" email with a discount offer on your next purchase.......but I gotta be honest, I thought for sure there would be a loop hole "Oh, those don't qualify" or something of that nature, but no, they honored it with free shipping. Another company I really like had no discount and also wanted to charge $150 Freight..........I won't hold that against them, but yikes.

You’ll understand the $150 freight charge when you get them. They are one of the best factory stands I’ve seen, and heavy. Congrats!

Oh, I understand why, It just makes you wonder how much a given company pays for something when company A can seem to absorb more.......and not just a little bit more.
I would imagine Upscale does huge numbers and would rather make a sale than not. Normal markup on speakers and cartridges is 50% and electronics are 40%. Video is usually 16% which is why I avoided it like the plague when I was in the business.

Was the sale on these from a previous purchase discount they sent?
