Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Hmmm, thanks. I will seriously consider this. I'm not if sure my aversion to belt changing will be overcome.
It's incredibly easy to change the belt on the Studio/Ultradeck. It's outboard of the platter and it's a round belt, so you can literally roll it between speeds with the flick of a finger.

isnt there a Technics in that price range ?
The SL-1500c. My friend bought one recently - really nice table. The 2M Red is inferior to the StudioTracker, but the table itself is fundamentally sound and well-built.

It is reminiscent of a more minimal AT deck, aesthetically, which may not be up @cul8er's alley.

Dont KAB do a version for around $1600 with a few upgrades and an OM30 which is miles ahead of the 2M red

I’d think one would be better off for that money with a SL-1200GR which can be had under $1400 from Guitar Center or Musician’s Friend with a discount code. I get codes from them all the time if anyone needs one.

Ah I wasn’t sure of the of price of that one over there.

Just to chime in, forget everything you think you know about changing speeds with a belt driven TT when it comes to the MoFi decks ;)
Thanks! Bunch of MoFi salespeople here ;) Ha Ha!

This also made me think of the Mandalorian

Looking into this, the MoFi studiodeck can be bought without a cartridge or with a variety of MoFi cartridges. Would my Nagaoka MP110 still work well?

It would, but you’d need an alignment disc and be able to set the arm height/VTA.

Good to know, thanks. Have the price on these been fairly stable? Does any place that you know have sales or discounts? The only place I checked was Music Direct and Crutchfield. I know Crutchfield isn't the best place to buy, but how about Music Direct?

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions!

Cheers!

It’ll be tough to get a discount on a MoFi. Upscale Audio will discount if you buy a cartridge from them. They’ll set it up for you too.

Music Direct is solid. You can get on their mailing list for specials. Don’t be afraid of “open box” items from them. Many of us have purchased open box and actually received factory fresh goods. I did this with my phono stage and saved $900.

Does anyone use or has experimented with a wireless WiFi (not Bluetooth) transmitter/receiver system?

I think it would be able cool if I could send the music from my office where my turntable is to my living room where I have a headphone amp.

Thinking WiFi should have less of a reduction in quality than BT.

The only one I know of is the Sonos and that’s a bit of a pricy system for connecting to a headphone amp.

Is Crutchfield not the best place to buy? I’ve always had flawless experiences with them, going back decades.

Been having some sound issues lately, particularly high end vocal distortion and have been trying to understand why this has become a new issue. Feels like anytime a vocalist stretches their vocals or really punches up their vocal delivery that the sound gets a bit fuzzy and uh “scratchy”. I’m attaching photos below, it looks like my stylus might be slightly pulling off to the right or I could be completely crazy and AP is just making subpar records these days. Would love to get another pair of eyes on this! A49A96AB-B61D-4629-B9CF-0E4AE8646FEB.jpegB7544243-F2AC-4157-8734-7F0C944CA8B4.jpeg

could just be a dirty stylus. how many hours do you have on it? have you got a ZeroDust or some BluTack you can use to clean the stylus?

Also wonder if playing around with the anti-skate setting might make a difference if you think this is related to the position of the stylus in the groove?
