Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Is he on the eastside? I guess I’ll contact all these folks and see whats up.
Yep, right across the LA river from The Arts District, absolutely gorgeousssssss showroom and has one of the best record shops in LA if you have $$$ to spend cause its all MM, MoFi, AP, Tone Poets and other top notch records ahaha.

Very smart and nice guy, definitely a shill for what he sells though. For example, if you tell him "I'm going to pair this with a pair of Lintons" he'll probably ask you why and try and sell you a pair of Dali Optikons or something lol. That being said, he just hates hyped up internet products that people buy with out listening and would prefer you listen to what he carries so your ears can be the judge and not a review. I get it, but definitely forces me to be a bit defensive when I'm in there lol.

But at the end of the day he's a great guy if he can help you he will, and he'll do his best to make sure he's treating you fairly (price wise).

Very cool. I had not heard of this place! Little closer to my house than others.

What I need is for someone to come out with something like this with a removable head shell, I'm thinking of replacing my PLX at some point, I was leaning towards a SOL, but that's not gonna happen now. At the moment the 1210GR is at the top of the list, but I wouldn't mind something with a "different" look. The way things are going with availability on anything though, I have nothing but time, lol.

You used to be able to get the funk lsd with a removable headshell but I don’t know if they do that anymore, their website is pants and to be fair it’s more expensive than your mofi so probably not in the target range 😂

In the €1-2k range I’d be very tempted by the entry origin live turntable, all the right people over here are talking them up massively.

Ya, not looking to spend more than around $1500 and the GR is already a little north of that, not familiar with Origin Live, I'll have to check it out.

Their British and I don’t know if they sell them over there tbh. They’ve been getting a name for their tonearms for a few years. Their turntables are normally very expensive bar the entry level Aurora.

Was one of the ones the dealer was particularly keen on showing off to me when I was picking up the Prima Luna. He really wanted to show it, the Vertere DG1 and the SME Model 6 off.

I like the look, but it's a "little" more than I wanted to spend, and it looks like its a tonearm swap and not just the head shell, so that's going to add to it...........but again, it's a nice looking deck for sure and speced well :)

What are the current delays on the GR, just started putting away for that one as my "endgame" deck after this Fluance. Seems like the least finicky and reliable deck north of $1500

I'm still honestly pretty bummed by the premature death of the Sol. I'd have loved to have owned one.

So I've been using a pair of Mackie CR4 speakers for probably the last 5-6 years. In terms of cost/sound they have been good enough for me, as I live in a townhouse so I don't want to crank it and annoy my neighbors. Well, for the past month or so I've been lucky to get sound out of both speakers at the same time, so its time to replace them. I would be fine with another set of the CR4s, but are there any other powered speakers/monitors that I should be looking at in that price range.

Saw this one on a rolling stone best music gear article and was kind of intrigued by it. Online reviews seem to be positive and mention how there is little to no vibration, which has me skeptical, but who knows. SpinBase Turntable Speaker System

That sure is tidy from a design and practicality point of view! The thing that would potentially worry me would be vibration feedback from the speaker as the turntable is effectively sat on it.
