Yeah, same. I wonder if pairing it with something like this would ease those concerns. Amazon product ASIN B07KGCRZ9V

They’re great but that’s a very expensive solution to fixing an issue with what is a pretty low priced speaker. 4 of those is 2/3 the price of the speaker itself. You could probably invest the full $500 better in a nicer set of powered speakers or an good entry level passive speaker/amp system.

I’d read the reviews of the speaker system and see what they and the manufacturer say about isolation and what they’ve done to prevent it being an issue instead and base my buying decision on that.

Your beating me to the responses, but you're doing well, keep it up ;)

So I've been using a pair of Mackie CR4 speakers for probably the last 5-6 years. In terms of cost/sound they have been good enough for me, as I live in a townhouse so I don't want to crank it and annoy my neighbors. Well, for the past month or so I've been lucky to get sound out of both speakers at the same time, so its time to replace them. I would be fine with another set of the CR4s, but are there any other powered speakers/monitors that I should be looking at in that price range.

Saw this one on a rolling stone best music gear article and was kind of intrigued by it. Online reviews seem to be positive and mention how there is little to no vibration, which has me skeptical, but who knows. SpinBase Turntable Speaker System

I have a pair of PreSonus 3.5's on my desk for my DAC/PC and love them, you might consider moving up a little bit ;)

I had bookmarked the PreSonus 4.5's because they looked nice, but didn't know much about them.
This was my first set of monitors and I wasn't too sure about them, but can say they sound really nice. That being said, I meant to link the 4.5's, I don't think the 5's have the connections you would need.

I could also be swayed by passive speakers and an amp thing if i could get something decent in the $200-$300 range. I know nothing about those things though

Apparently not an issue. Seems nifty, albeit a little gimmicky. I'd kind of like to hear one.

Haha! I saw their own claims of some proprietary damping thing or other but I’m a natural sceptic for those kinda claims lol. I’d probably want a few positive reviews to put my mind to rest first!

Looks like they quoted Sound and Vision as having backed up their assertion.

That might be tough at that budget, probably the best you can do for an amp is the Onkyo TX-8220 for $250, I think a few people have them and have had nothing but positive feedback. Of course at that price point, you could also go with the Fluance powered speakers and be set, again, I hear they've gotten a lot of positive response.

A little more expensive, but in the same vein, would be the Adam T5V. Sweetwater is running a sale at $200 for each speaker. The T5V is a true active speaker, versus a powered speaker, and requires an interconnect to each speaker as well as individual power cords.

@DevonJD My buddy gave me a pair of Audioengine A2s awhile back and for the size and price I thought they were really nice. Might be an option worth exploring. The ones I had didn’t have Bluetooth but were powered and I wanna say they had 2 inputs.

With studio monitors like these something like a makie big knob would probably not be a bad idea too to make volume control a bit easier and more uniform across the two speakers. Also I just like to cause myself to laugh every time I type out big knob 😂

I had to look up the Makie big knob; I think it only works with balanced inputs and outputs.

It works with either in accordance with its manual. For unbalanced you use a RCA to 1/4” TS cable and for balanced an XLR to 1/4” TRS cable. Both cable types are really easy to get hold of from the same types of professional gear sites that sell both the monitors and the big knob itself.

It has been something that I’ve been looking into pairing with Yamaha HS monitors for a home office set up if work wants me to stay on WFH after covid. They probably don’t to be fair but I like researching gear 😂

I considered these, but the volume knob is in the back and would be a hassle to get to based on how I have my speakers set up

Yea--I had them on my desk and just set the volume to the maximum volume I wanted. Then I controlled volume via whatever app I was playing audio through instead. Not an ideal situation if you're constantly turning them on/off though (or if you are mostly playing vinyl)
