Anyone wager in the battle of Fluance RT85 vs PLX-500 in a shoot out? Here's what I'm seeing thus far:
Pioneer PLX-1000 - $700
Phono preamp (like U-turn Pluto 2) - $100
Powered speakers (with remote volume control, likely) - $200
As much as I like the idea of the PLX-1000, it probably takes up too much of the budget. Dropping to something like the PLX-500 at $450 creates budget space and adds a built-in phono preamp.
TTL offers several packages under $1000 - TTL SETUP: Turntable Listening Packages

Certainly that made my decision easier, no way am I crawling back behind my equipment and unplugging it every time.Sutherlands don’t even have power switches FWIW.
How should I go about troubleshooting skips? My new copy of the White Album has skips all over sides 1 and 2. Seems pretty flat and I cleaned it once already with my vacuum RCM. Is it possible that my VTF is too low? I don't see any scratches on the surface of the record either.
Nice! Just read the what hifi 5-star review, and with its "gorgeous sense of clarity and ample detail," the 6000a sounds like a very good match for your warm and musical Lintons.i caved and i think i have pretty much finished up my main setup for a long time....bought an audiolab 6000a a few days ago and it just arrived today! listening to the Dylan Blonde on Blonde MoFi and it's sounding real solid now! Looking forward to testing the amp out a bit more in the coming weeks.
Shure with an m95ed stylusWhat cartridge are you running and what tracking force is it set at?
Ok set it to 1.30 grams, sounding much better now. Thanks @Joe Mac for respondingShure with an m95ed stylus
I had to recheck it, thought I had it at 1.25 grams, now it's showing at 1.00 grams.
edit: which is within the recommended range of 0.75-1.5g

I believe @JohnnyCashFan is the one who brought it to my attention —so thanks! I’m really enjoying it so far. The price on them went up a bit since I started looking but found an open box on eBay. It looks brand new. I may never go back to buying non-open box again…maybe I’ve just had a string of good luck thoughNice! I had read on Hoffman that it was a good match and that the distrubitor often showed it matched with Linton's.I believe @JohnnyCashFan is the one who brought it to my attention —so thanks! Vinshine? Denafrips? You're just making those words up.Does anybody have any of the Vinshine Audio gear? Saw they are going to be upping their prices soon slightly but the Denafrips Ares II has always intrigued me.
