My late grandfather had an original pair of La Scalas. They’re a bit like Klipschorns that need a sub. Incredibly efficient, huge sound.

Okay I know this isn't AUDIO hardware. But it's kinda like, audio hardware ADJACENT. I finally got the projector upgrades I was looking to do at my place. And one of them's a laser projector and the picture is just, off the charts. I took this picture of a moving image projected on my screen, from my couch about ten feet away, with my phone. And it was a crappy Prime stream.

So I've got two in the house, the upstairs one is the laser, that's an Optoma UHZ50. The Man Cave has a BenQ X3000i which is an LED. It's nice but the Optoma beats it. Optoma, Epson, JVC and Sony are the big 4 in terms of consumer brands. There's other great manufacturers but the price goes up REAL quick.

NIGHTMather would totally take me to a Renaissance Fair just to fuck with me. I'd wake up with a crushing headache, in a forest, covered in filthy velvet rags and mead. Shortly afterwards I'd hear the faint sound of trumpets and barking and realize that I'm being hunted for sport.

I have a pretty nice OLED TV, but every time I watch a movie on my friend's projector it feels like a movie. I'm jealous of that.

During covid, I put in a 2.35:1 screen.
Totally spoiled now.
No more black bars and the full picture LtoR is shown.

I definitely toyed with the idea of splashing out on an ultra-short throw projector (we're in a townhouse so a standard projector setup isn't really in the cards). Couldn't quite make it work in our space, sadly.
