Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I definitely toyed with the idea of splashing out on an ultra-short throw projector (we're in a townhouse so a standard projector setup isn't really in the cards). Couldn't quite make it work in our space, sadly.

One day.
It's a very different viewing experience, had one for about 10 years now, can't go back.

EDIT- I also just really like that when it's off, you're left with just a big white screen as opposed to the big black hole of a powered down television. They've gotten better with this in integrating photo modes and whatnot so the tv serves a purpose when it's off. But it's still a little clunky for me visually when you get into the big big sizes.

I haven't seen a UST in person yet but they are really interesting.
No bulb replacement either.

This Bill Evans You Must Believe In Spring craft press is so freaking well done. Still available on Amazon for anyone sleeping btw

Oh my…. this is what I have been missing.
time to update that profile signature! 😂

the insight might be my next upgrade at some point. i like the Jolida but I might swap it for the Insight and move the Jolida to my 2nd system to replace the LX-LPS.

yep. it's fantastic. i know some people had pressing issues with it, but it sounds pretty amazing if you get a clean copy.

Have been thinking about your dissatisfaction, so glad to hear you’ve found the magic!
It’s really relieving man I gotta tell you! I noticed I came to fear the albums in my collection that contained vocals because of how edgy it all came across on my system. Particularly once I got into those inner grooves I’d often just lift the arm and call it a day cause it wasn’t worth hearing such lousy audio quality.

Last night I realized how much information I was literally missing, vocals could really stretch, range, and unfurl themselves with these two components added. And HALLELUJAH NO INNER GROOVE DISTORTION! No more tension in my body waiting for the distortion/peakiness/clipping or whatever tf it was that’s been haunting my listening experience since my 2M Blue on my Fluance.

Some other things that I noticed: the soundstage is so much more focused and immersive. Before, I felt the speakers never much disappeared, there was definitely a soundstage but it felt like everything was left-center-right. Last night there was true depth and placement accuracy, it was deeper, wider, and taller. The clarity is much more glimmery, there’s a real feeling of shape to sonic elements, upright bass notes, piano hammers, guitar plucks, everything has a real physicality to it. I’m happy with my set up 😭

Loading makes a massive difference. I forgot to change loading when I switched from my Soundsmith back to the MasterTracker and was horrified by how bad it sounded.

I wonder if that was the issue with my Grado x MF LX-LPS. I don’t think loading was as easily adjustable as it is with the Insight but I saw some reviews on the SL saying how much proper loading would make a difference in regards to peakiness

Wouldn’t be shocked. I have the LX-LPS on my secondary system and a few carts I want to try on it aren’t recommended.

Shouldn’t really make a difference with the Grados, they use standard 47k MM loading and aren’t really adjustable in that sense in the same way that an MC cartridge is.

NIGHTMather would totally take me to a Renaissance Fair just to fuck with me. I'd wake up with a crushing headache, in a forest, covered in filthy velvet rags and mead. Shortly afterwards I'd hear the faint sound of trumpets and barking and realize that I'm being hunted for sport.
Picking up his leather studded turntable plinth from the local leather tanner
NightMather is a Gaucho loving, bodacious cowboy.
