Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I hadn't looked at a separate Sonos as an option, mainly to try to keep the setup simple for the family. The quality of the surround system isn't really all that important, they really just want the center channel to better hear dialogue and some super simple rears so the kids can get excited about the effects. But I have a friend who has a Sonos and it sound great, I'll do some digging and price it out, thx...
I’m team Sonos for my TV too. Get the soundbar and two ikea Sonos Symfonisk speakers as the rear speakers. Ikea even makes speaker stands for them now. The speakers are $99 and stands are like 25 or something. Massive savings over the Sonos 1s. You do have to plug the rears into an outlet but it works perfectly in my current living room

Had they existed when I did mine, i ended up with 2 play:1 (precursor to the new sonos one) as rears, I’d have probably got two of the lamps for the side tables and been really happy with that and there being no obvious sign of a rear speaker from a decor standpoint.

Yea the lamps seem cool but with my setup we wouldn’t really have anywhere to place them that would look good. I ended up with two 1s as a wedding present so have those as rears now. They didn’t make stands for the ikea ones at the time. But my plan is to swap them out and put the nicer 1s in other rooms

A bit of 0000 steel wool perhaps? Or Magic Eraser?
Gotta figure a magic eraser will remove that safely.
Still trying to think of the best strategy on cleaning motion to use. Am I going to use like a shoe-shine back and forth or more of a milking a cow situation...

At what point do I try to reach out to the seller as well? I've been spinning my wheels on getting these pins cleaned and I only have a few days left in the return window to make sure they actually function.

I think the answer is yes? Scrub however works to get it off most efficiently. Let's also add grab and twist to clean in an all around motion. You might try metal polish like Wenol?

I think my dilemma is the pins are so damn tiny and a magic eraser is so damn big that by the time I cut a piece small enough to fit I'm going to need to use tweezers to get enough leverage to actually scrub anything effectively.

Pardon my anxiety on this. These are uncharted waters for me.

My temptation would be to cut a thin piece of magic eraser, put a hole in the top, slide it over the pin and try to spin it around the pin.

Or, I saw this on a repair show on tele, cut a small bit of wire wool, wrap it around a cotton bud and use it to get in and around.

That was my thought. Or cut a thin strip of it, wrap it around the pin and use the two loose ends to spin it around and around with some light pressure/tension.

I looked at both of my cartridges and the pins are fine. Yours are gnarly. I’d consider buying another and returning that one.

Magic Eraser? You don’t use the big block- you cut it down to size.
