Well my insurance came through, kinda.

Valued at €999. Took into account ortofon offer 25% back for rebuilds so €750. Minus €250 excess they’re offering me €500. Gotta decide what to do with that now in terms of getting it mended v buying something new around €500.

That's excellent, Joe. This was through homeowner's insurance? Assuming it's similar to what we have in the States.

Yeah exactly that. I pay the €20 extra every year to have accidental damage cover for exactly this kinda thing. Although cleaning is supposed to be an exclusion but we will keep that to ourselves. I claimed on it before years ago when drunk Joe dropped a pint of beer over a MacBook Air…

I have that kind of a policy too, but I always forget that I do when I have this kind of problem. I probably could have made a claim on it with a laptop before.

Yeah I suppose I’d seen leaks and rumours of a giant killing phono with tubes in the early 4 figures that’d shake the whole market lol.
I already have that. It’s not by Shiit though, it’s an old Allnic H-1201. Sorry for any confusion. ;)

Seriously, I do like Mike and Jason and they can make some really good to great stuff, but their marketing and hype machines get a bit crazy.

George Meyer AV in Los Angeles (the ridiculous overcharging shop who has my NAD) is now quoting me $100 just to return my unit to me, on top of the $80 down payment I paid when I shipped it to them (cost applicable towards repair but apparently not shipping? For some reason?). This is ridiculous and is starting to feel borderline criminal (pay my price or im not giving you your property back).

I filed a complaint with the BBB, but any other advice on top of that is appreciated. Do not use this shop under any circumstances.

That’s a pretty steep bench fee and I would have expected them to tell you of this ahead of time. That sucks, I’m sorry.
I literally don't know what else to do other than get police involved, and even then this is a cross-state dispute over an amp worth around $1500 in optimal condition. The shop owner could call me and say "Fuck you im never sending it back" and I would still be left with no recourse. I feel so used.
