Random question but are you really sure you wouldn’t be better with an amplifier switch rather than the HT bypass? Again opens up the amp choices to, well, everything and you can just leave it permanently on the AVR when not spinning so as to make the whole experience no different for your better half?
I mean short answer no I'm not sure. I'm not sure of anything, ever... really. But the thought of adding a switch into my audio path and then having to get new speaker cables kinda horrifies me.

Probably the only way this works.

The second horrible realisation I came to was that in order to watch tv she's now going to have to turn on the second amp and make sure it's set to bypass mode. Even if I make sure it's set like that every time I turn it off, she's still going to have to turn it on, with a new remote. This alone may get me buried in the backyard. I have to make this entire thing as seamless as possible or at best I risk losing an arm.
Have you thought of buying a universal remote? Like a SofaBaton, they’re on sale right now.

Get that before the ML, and program it so she only has to use one remote.

I mean, how heavy is 70 pounds really?

You'll b

Fucking wimp can’t lift 70 pounds.
I had to return a pair of Evo 4.2 earlier this year. With the stands it was like 40-50lbs. The walk up the block from my Uber to the UPS store made me realize I’m too old for this shit. Anyone who doesn’t have a 1 or 2 before their age is exempted from criticism.

Now if this bro is in their 20s….fucking wimp indeed.

Yes, this is something I really do need to get. I've had one in my hands several times but this would probably make a hell of a lot of sense.

And yes I suppose I can just lift it myself, the herniated disc in my back might have something to say about that but I guess we can just cross that bridge when we crumple to the ground and crawl our way towards it.

I’m here for @Mather’s adventures in programming a universal remote!

I think the problem with heavy amps, mine in particular, is that the weight isn’t evenly distributed across them either. All the weight in mine is in the transformers lined across the back. The front is almost feather light. Complicates things a little!
That's exactly it. All the weight is at the front of this particular one which makes it really unwieldy, but it's doable. It's that enormous transformer...

Actually I do have a technical question some of you may be able to answer. My stage is a dual mono stage, this potential amp is also dual mono. Is this a potentially good or bad thing? Does it matter?

Doesn’t matter at all. Dual mono is nearly always a positive but mixing and matching between it and normal stuff doesn’t cause any issues. It’s just the amp/phono stages internal architecture.

I am curious to see if you decide to ditch the external phono once you have a chance to hear a good quality integrated amp with a built-in internal phono.

The biggest downside is losing gain adjustment but it has never really bothered me. Maybe I am just oblivious too.
