Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Is it because ARC is now owned by a Canadian?

Wait, are you THAT Canadian…? 👀
Well apparently I might be able to get 50% off anything ARC... maybe... but honestly the only thing I can afford that they have currently is the LS28 even with the discount, or older Ref units.

But also there is a lot of ARC stuff around on sale pretty much all the time. A local has the LS28 with only 800 hours for $6500 CAD Which is about 4Gs USD. So it would work well, and work well with that Benchmark I think. They upgraded to the LS28SE recently so there's a lot of the 28s around because people traded up.

But I mean this is all still speculative. But I think this is what I'm going to aim for. Or if a deal shows up on the Musical Fidelity Nu Vista 800.2 I will still heavily consider that. But one near me sold recently...

Ok so in terms of cables....

-sigh-

In terms of cables... I would need a new pair of RCA to run from the HT Bypass of the ARC LS28 to the Arcam... And I would need either a pair of XLRs or a pair of RCA to run from the ARC LS28 to the Benchmark, correct?

Yes and I’m a big proponent of using balanced XLR cables wherever possible.

I'm truly loving my Sol at this point but man, if I ever decided to go direct drive.
I’m becoming direct drive curious and that 1300G is what I’ve wanted from Technics. A TT without all the DJ stuff.

The Denon DP3000ne is also a sweet looking deck.

But as I sit here listening to Ben Webster - Soulville on my UltraDeck I realize I have all the TT I need already.

Hi all, looking for more recommendations (really enjoying the equipment that was recommended).

Following is my set up since my upgrades in October:

  • Integrated Amp - Rotel Tribute A11
  • CD Player - Rotel Tribute C11
  • Turntable - Technics SL-1210GR2
  • Cartridge - Ortofon 2M Bronze
  • Speakers - Q Acoustics 3050 Floor-standing Speaker
  • Phono Pre Amp - Sutherland - Insight MM/MC
  • Headphones: Sennheiser HD 650
  • Other items:
    • Doug Audio VU3 Dual Analog Speaker Switch
      • Switch to use speakers either with Rotel to listen to music or
      • Old Yamaha receiver for TV (not thinking of upgrading Yamaha)
So I want to start researching my next upgrades with hope of pulling trigger end Feb early March. The 2 obvious components are the speakers and the amplifier.

Budget probably will be around 7k for both combined. (if less expensive even better - more $ for records)

The items that first caught my interest have been the Rotel RA-6000 (the cd equivalent seems really good but have reservations as doesn't play SACDs - neither my current one but will like the option further in the future) and BW 702 S3. Sadly seem that both combined will put me over the limit . I haven't had the chance to hear them in person but historically have liked the sound that both companies produce. Will be going this weekend to a show room to try to hear them.

My room is 16 x 16 feet (approximately 256 sq ft. with high ceiling. One limitation is the entrance space and one of the speakers. Adding a couple of pictures to give an idea of space and limitations.

Also, do you know of any good Hi-Fi stores in Central Florida?

Thanks in advance

I love how 3 way speakers sound.
It's really good at dynamic range.

Are you thinking tube or solid state amp?

Does brand matching have a big pull for you? If i was looking to still be into SACDs, I got out a couple of years ago but still use the CD layer of my hybrid ones, the Marantz is the obvious player. I don’t think that I’d probably chose their amp with your budget though.

Also are there any sound signatures you like and any looks that you like or dislike in terms of speakers?
