Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

Angsty here! I love my 4B ST. Very clean, very powerful, deep low end capability. Built like a tank and will last past the 20-year warranty. Bryston service is very responsive.

But, if I’m telling the whole truth, my resto-modded NAD C272 sounds indistinguishable. I had the capacitors upgraded and a few other component tweaks and upgrades. I’ve run the Bryston and the NAD side by side and could not tell which one was running. The NAD also has prodigious output that never bottomed out with my speakers.

I rather have the build quality and XLR connections of the Bryston, though.
I’m not so sure the new Bryston owners are as committed to value as the prior ones were. The new Bi-200 integrated amp, at US$8500, is both pricey and ugly. I’m sure it performs well, but I’d rather take my $8500 to buy a Luxman L-507Z.

The 4B Cubed is still a champion power amp, but the price keeps floating upward, too.

Also that integrated does not work very well. The volume knob also controls the input or something and it will just switch one or the other when you are turning it. I checked it out in person and even the sales guy said it was a mess.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good media console manufacturer? I'm not looking to break the bank, prefer not crazy expensive. I'm looking at Norstone? They seem reasonable. Anybody have one they particularly like? I'm looking for something in this general size and shape something tall rather than long. I need more space on the sides for speakers...

What’s your budget for this? Quadraspire is a nice brand with a bit of engineering, sustainability and good looks. Plus, they’re Brit’s, so you don’t have to think of Trump's bs.

I mean I would prefer to not spend too much but let's be honest, if I like it I'll buy it. Fire away...
Quadraspire, HRS, Timbernation, What We Make, Box Furniture.

I think this modular rack from Timbernation looks cool.

Both Timbernation and What We Make can make custom sizes and configurations as well. I’ve bought and enjoyed What We Make furniture, and I’m planing on buying from Timbernation soon (I’m getting an Album Record Rack in Tiger Maple for the Transrotor).

Awesome thanks I'll check these out!
All except HRS, one look at those photos and I don't even want to know what those cost. I refuse to look because if I know, NIGHTMather knows.

Just crack open a bottle of Bookers, put on an lp, and peruse HRS’ website (actual, factual, no shit isolation gear, albeit a brutalist aesthetic language). NIGHTMather never needs to know what you look at, just delete your search history.

No, seriously, you should delete your search history. That’s some crazy shit!

I looked at two pictures. Literally said "Nope." out loud and closed the page.

I really liked the look of the ButcherBlock Acoustics racks, but I liked the thicker shelves and finishes on Timber Nation. I ended up calling a friend that has a side business woodworking. He’s building me a custom rack to my specs so I can get the best of both brands. Highly suggest route if you know of anyone local that can do decent woodwork.

I’m just going to tell you that their top of the line racks can easily cost as much as a respectable used vehicle.

You swine. I didn't want to know.
Well at least I know who to blame if I wake up one morning to a very large box sitting in my driveway and a divorce petition in my lap.

Just for the record it's you, I'm referring to you.

Although I would totally have a chat with a carpenter if you have a good one nearby. You’d be surprised at how nice a piece they can make and if you bought a few spikes and shoes they could totally integrate them for you. Probably would even safe a couple of bob in this crazy tariff world!
He did tell me to just buy any spikes/feet I wanted to have them delivered to his house. He said he figured that I would know way more about them than he would.
