My top mains include piranha plant and Greninja. But my #1 is none other than the sexy penguin man himself.Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Campaign/Story mode "Spirits" was unexpectedly great. I finished it a couple of days ago but wanted to share here. It took me 26~ hours to complete. I had not played a Smash game since Brawl so I was not expecting anything like Spirits in this game. I'd have been fine with the classic 1P mode and Adventure mode like Melee had. It was genuinely challenging and once I completed the first area, I thought "okay the game is over now" NOPE. Another region, got to the end of that "okay the game has to be over now!" NOPE. Another region. It's not that I wanted it to end after each one because it was so fun. Once you unlock newer 4 Star spirits it got a little easier but the beginning of the game before you figure out how to use everything and types to your advantage was rough.
I had expressed disappointment in the most recent Pokemon game a couple of weeks back, and for a game that is not Pokemon, Spirits did a better job IMO. It has a huge map where you travel in a mostly linear path defeating enemies, picking up spirits (collecting pokemon/badges). It scratched that lingering Pokemon Itch I had when I played Pokemon.
As for characters, I am a Pikachu loyalist. I seems that most characters are pretty evenly matched. There doesn't seem to be too many overpowered characters compared to weaker ones. I was even using Kirby a lot in Spirits because his up+B is great to spam in Stamina battles.

As great a game as it is, shield enemies are extremely OP. At least in my experience.Damn, Theseus is hard!
Finally beat him with Trippy Shot!As great a game as it is, shield enemies are extremely OP. At least in my experience.
Did you track a down a CRT or will you hook it up to a modern tv?acquired an N64 with Goldeneye because it was a necessity for the basement arcade. I just fired it up, turned the volume up to 11 and turned on Atmos just to listen to the opening theme song through 8 speakers. I think my neighbors called the cops. Totally worth it.
So I grabbed one of these little guysDid you track a down a CRT or will you hook it up to a modern tv?
tbf these games always look vastly superior on a CRT.So I grabbed one of these little guys
RCA to HDMI,AV to HDMI Converter,ABLEWE 1080P Mini RCA Composite CVBS Video Audio Converter Adapter Supporting PAL/NTSC for TV/PC/ PS3/ STB/Xbox VHS/VCR/Blue-Ray DVD Players: Amazon.ca: Electronics
Then I went through my AVR which can deal with different video processing then I went into my old Viera Plasma (soon to be projector, still waiting on the damn screen)
Initially I got a blue screen but after fiddling with the video processing on the AVR side it popped up and looks... well it looks exactly like it used to which is to say it looks way worse than I ever remember it looking but actually it's exactly like it always looked... just that my brain remembers it as being the greatest thing ever. It'll be even more ridiculous once I get it up on the 125" screen which will likely look so terrible that I'll have to sit outside in order to play it.
The funniest thing is I'm pretty sure there's a full 4K remaster of it coming to XBLA this year so in the end I'll probably end up getting that too...

Well the converter box basically makes it an identical image to what you'd get in a CRT, it doesn't have any of the usual color shift or whatnot that you tend to get with the older machines when running on newer tvs. So it's a 1:1 version of what I played as a kid, but it doesn't have the inherent CRT nostalgia factor for sure...tbf these games always look vastly superior on a CRT.
The Xbox 360 does a fantastic job of upscaling OG XBox titles. I have NHL Hitz (best arcade hockey game ever made) and I got a 360 just so I can use the backwards compatibility for that title and it looks like it came out last year. Like it actually holds up, it's crazy. So smooth. It's about the way scan lines smooth the image quality. Upscaling never looks right.
Open Source Scan Converter might be the way forward. Bit more expensive than the option you have, but apparently they are great. I've got what you got so I can see if my Amiga/Gamecube/Dreamcast still work...The Xbox 360 does a fantastic job of upscaling OG XBox titles. I beat all of the DLC for BOTW and would argue that it wasn't worth it. It has a cool unlock at the end, but other than that, it's more of the same, but with artificial difficulty.BOTW Trial of The Sword is just plain frustrating. I can’t get past the first stage. It’s either the 3 lizafos on the docks or the next level after it. I’m trying my hardest to think outside the box but for the first part of this Trial to have something so goddamn difficult is just cruel. I know it’s the style of the game but the fact you have to start all over again is just
