How do Demo's like this work. Will game play data transfer over to the full game once it's released? Or should I just wait until 1/24 and start playing once released?

Speaking of the full game, how can I check to see if my pre order to the digital deluxe game is still valid. Since it's been delayed so many times I want to double check. I know I selected do not cancel my pre-order on the first delay, but didn't see anything on the other delays. I have heard others peoples pre-orders were canceled.

Based on what I’ve played so far, this isn’t carrying over to the main game. I THINK that typically occurs with game trials after the game launches. This demo so far is just letting you experience a slice of the games story and features.

If you pre-ordered from the PSN store, I think you can just check there, go to the games store page or check your library. Not aware of any cancellations on pre-orders so I assume you’re still good.

Time for a review, and one I've been putting off. I finished my second playthrough of Dark Souls 3, getting the basic ending the first time, and the Usurpation of Fire ending the second. Haven't decided yet if I want to run through for the final ending or not. Ended up really enjoying my first playthrough, while trying to not compare to Elden Ring. It was a bit of an adjustment going back to the more linear style. This game also felt easier than both Elden Ring and DS1, though there is likely some bias there. I was a mace and shield cleric in DS1, so damage output was lower than my dual blades build in DS3, and combined with my inexperience with these types of games, made it feel harder. I think Elden Ring is generally harder, did both a pure strength and dex/faith build in ER and both had a few bosses where I really struggled. The toughest time I had with DS3 was with the Nameless King, which still took less than 10 tries. Once I figured out the timing there I was golden, and found it to be a fun fight. I really liked the Dancer and Pontiff fights, visually very cool and had plenty of mixups.

My biggest complaint comes down to the completion aspect. I did like the fact that there were improved rings for both New Game+ and New Game++, giving you something to look out for each playthrough. However, there are achievements for getting all rings and the different types of spells, and each has at least one item tied to ranking up each covenant. For those not in the know, covenants are sort of like guilds, and joining one impacts who you can assist or attack in the PVP portion of the game. There are two ranks each for 7 or 8 covenants, and getting to rank 2 requires getting 30 of an offering to the covenant. There's up to 3 ways to get these items, depending on the covenant. One is to help people with boss fights, another is attacking people through PVP, and the third is through extremely low drop rates from certain enemies. I didn't realize this at first, and got everything I could through 2 playthroughs, with the intent of going back since the achievement guide online said they could be farmed. I looked up the drop rates, and the base rate is around .8-5%. The higher rate items come from rarer/harder to defeat enemies. A guide showed that for one with a 2% drop rate you can bump it to around 5% with a combo of the item discovery ring, helmet and rapier, and having 40 luck. I have 10, so at over level 100 that is quite the effort to bump up without a full respec. Tried doing PVP, which is super laggy when attacking or being attacked, and I could not find anyone to join after trying for hours for either the 2nd to last fight in the game, or Nameless King.

To summarize, if you like From Soft games, this one will scratch the itch. Just maybe look up the requirements for completion and decide if it's for you or not.

Yeah…I tried to 100% DS3 last winter and was stymied by the necessity of pvp play. Currently one achievement (one final ending, the simplest one) short of my Elden Ring 100%; the first time I’ve ever completed a game’s achievements.

I really liked how Elden Ring's had no PVP achievements. Getting that basic ending is a quick run on New Game+, my run for that ending took about 8 hours, including tracking down some of the items I missed the first playthrough and doing a couple of the side quests I missed or screwed up.

I did start trying to grind the Sunlight Medals by dropping my marker near Nameless King. I've gotten the hang of his fight pretty well, so I was able to help enough people to get to Rank 1 after 4 or so very passive hours (did some work while waiting between fights). Couple accidental deaths and a couple host deaths, but mostly victories. Cool to see all the different builds, and had a loss that was pretty funny. Dude came in with full Havel armor, the shield from the Dragonslayer, and a big bonking stick, then proceeded to die in 2 hits in the second phase. All I could think was "did you forget to block?" When you are a helper in that fight, you start phase 2 way behind the host, so I didn't even get to the boss to pull aggro before the host died. Gave me a chuckle, and he didn't summon me again.

I'm trying to play Justin Roilands new game High On Life. As a game I'm having a lot of fun with it but god damn I find his style of humor so painfully unfunny that I don't think I'm gonna be able to get through it

I feel like such a hypocrite right now, but I partially take back part of my Dark Souls 3 review, with regards to the PvP. I was griding Sunlight Medals yesterday helping people with the Nameless King fight, but hit a point where no one was joining after a long wait. I decided to try and grind the human dregs, of which only 10 is needed for the spell. They can be dropped from an enemy in which 9 spawn near a bonfire, and they're easy to kill, so I figured this one wouldn't be too bad. Didn't know if having the covenant active would help my chances so I turned it on. Killed the first group, and got summoned in to defend the area. Didn't realize this area was also the turf of that covenant. What I came into was not what I expected. Instead of a 1v1, there were 3 different covenants going at it, and it was madness! Kept going for a little bit, and quickly got to the 10 items I needed, and was actually having fun! I'm guessing this is where everyone who wants to do PvP hangs out, because I got into a lot of matches with surprisingly little downtime. Switched over to the Mound Makers covenant (the crazy ones!) and started invading. Was surprised how many hosts attacked me when I was trying to take out the other invaders, that covenant can get their items from killing either the host or a certain amount of invaders, so why not work together? Anyways, I enjoyed my time, it seemed less laggy than all the times I got invaded, and I'm going to keep playing. Still don't know if I recommend it, but go for it if you're a sucker for pain!

I'm playing it on Series S from Game Pass, I'm enjoying it so far but the gameplay isn't all that special either

One of these days I'm going to go back and finish the B & C sides, and the heart of the mountain. But for now, I'm focusing on easier games :sneaky:
Love love love Celeste. Great game. Frustratingly difficult & addictive. Killer soundtrack. Touching story. Fuck those strawberries. I forget how my pie turned out, but I felt accomplished enough just finishing the game.

Also C Sides?!!! Maybe my memory is failing me but WTF are C Sides?

Even Harder versions than the harder versions of the already hard version.

So Dark Souls...

I loved Elden Ring. Cheated a little bit to level myself and also cheated in looking things up on items to get. But I still had a good time. It felt like a real challenge but not impossibly hard.

I bought the Dark Souls games back when they were on sale back in June. Started playing DS1. It's very linear, much more bare bones. I went with a magic build but I wish I hadn't since I hadn't found any good spells and I ended up using more of a hack and slash character. I believe I'm about halfway through the game. But I've been struggling trying to go to Sen's Fortress and die very easily to those enemies right at the beginning if I don't run right past them. I've been to Blighttown, Undead Parish, Darkroot Garden, Darkroot Basin, Quelaag's Domain. I think that Sen's is the next place to go. I took some time to do some soul farming in Darkroot Garden but I still feel underleveled even though I'm above the "recommended level" for most areas. Should I bother trying to slog my way through with this character or should I just move onto DS2 or DS3?
