@Delta Don - I've tried 2 pieces of software on my Mac, Retroarch and OpenEmu. Retroarch is the same as on all other systems, but OpenEmu is Mac only. It looks nicer, but I think I got better results out of Retroarch.

Thank you

I bought a used Switch from a co-worker the other night - $200 for the Switch/dock/pro controller/Zelda: Breath of the Wild/and a Ring Fit Adventure thing with the Ring-Con and Leg Strap.

Seemed like a good deal - as we've been talking about getting my daughter a switch when she was a bit younger, but then Covid hit and nothing was available.

I haven't played the Zelda game, but I hear it's a good one. I did buy MLB The Show 23. I get that it's not great graphics on the Switch, but it plays fine. I just like hitting dingers.

Maybe I'll finally start doing a bit of exercising, too.

Ring Fit's a super fun way to exercise. Just don't get overconfident with the difficulty level like I did, WAY over did it the first time played.

Dilemma: my fiancé has been playing a lot of Stardew Valley lately on switch handheld and she might want to start playing a Harvest Moon game because it’s similar.

TLOZ: TotK is coming out next month and I will want to play it often right when it releases. I also have 4 other switch games that I’ve not made too much of a dent in that I should finish playing as well.

So I’m thinking we need a new switch console that we can both play simultaneously.

Option A: buy a brand new Switch with all the accessories. Pros: brand new, will work great. Cons: I don’t need a second charging doc, extra joy-cons (we have two pairs and a pro controller which is enough), etc.

Option B: buy a console only from Amazon and/or eBay. Pros: cheaper (refurbished on Amazon: $180~, eBay: $160-170), Cons, might have to juggle charging with only one port.

Option C: Buy her a Switch Lite. Pros: she only plays handheld so it would work out well while I play on the TV. Cost is $200~ which isn’t too much more than the console only. Cons: I’m not sure?

We’ve discussed this already but does anyone else’s households have more than one switch? Thoughts on this situation?

Cons for the lite is that if there is drift you’d have to send the entire thing in.

Ooooh I didn’t know that. Good to know
I have way too many joy cons and only had one with the issue. There are plenty of others who have had loads of issues.

I know on a much smaller level ps5 has had a similar issue with drift and the assumption is the 3d type vibration is the root cause. So maybe turning down the vibration could help.

Also the Zelda OLED would be a nice pickup and I know you could easily sell the portions you do not want on eBay.

get the zelda oled switch coming out in three weeks. then, that’ll literally be your TOTK-playing machine 😎

We have a Switch that I use docked and my partner uses a Switch Lite handheld. They had to manually replace a joystick due to drift, but it was manageable without sending the system in.

By having both systems we've been able to play co-op games and each other's libraries without buying multiple copies of games. Just need to set the opposite system as our primary (so the Switch Lite is my account primary even though I never use it).

The only hitch is that we often have to do online co-op (e.g. Splatoon/Monster Hunter Rise) with private lobbies since Nintendo won't allow simultaneous local co-op on the same game license across two devices.

I highly reco the docked Switch and handheld Lite combo for a dilemma free gaming household!

i’m actually getting the new Zelda-themed switch myself. the switch that i have myself right now is the animal crossing themed one, which i unfortunately can’t mod onto bc it’s one of the newer models. but even so, i’ll still get the oled switch to primarily play new games and whatever else, and then keep the other switch for speedrunning (games on switch run better if they’re digitally downloaded onto the system memory — so that’s what i’ll do with the original one)

Have someone offering up 2 Wiis and 35 games for $130. I mostly just want the Mario games but figure I can sell the other stuff and at least break even. Thoughts?

The extra Wii, it looks like people are offering like $40-$60 on eBay for the console alone. Junk games on Wii are a dime a dozen. All the other non-Mario or Wii Fit/Play are probably like $10 each or less. I would sell all the ones you don’t want as a whole unit for like $60-$70, depending on what you got. More expensive ones you can sell separately.

So, yes I think you could almost break even. That’s not a bad deal at all.

You lot are gonna make me dig my Wii out, if only to play Zelda and all the old school Marios.

It’s still got value as a party favor - I’ve got like all the Rock Band/Guitar Hero plus all the instruments. After a few drinks there’s usually a fight over who gets to play drums. The Beatles one is always a big hit.

Started God of War Ragnarok. Enjoying it so far; it has all of the best bits of the 2018 game, while not feeling like a retread. I'm definitely button bashing in combat rather than learning the combos and specials, but I'm making progress, despite getting a kicking on some of the bigger bosses. Currently kicking about the mines...
