Everything Video Games!

As someone who hasn't played a Zelda game since the original NES, is this a good one to jump in on? I can't rely on nostalgia because of how different the games now look. I'm a casual gamer guy.
probably not if you don't have at least 100 hours to commit to it. I recently finished playing the Link's Awakening remake on Switch and I think that would be a good game to play casually. It took me like 15 hours to beat the whole game and it was a lot of fun.

BOTW was my first Zelda game and I loved it. I thought it was great for either playing casually as a handheld (exploring or crafting stuff, or even a shrine if it was easy haha) or long sessions when I more time and could play on a TV. Being able to “pause” any time makes it easier to play casually. Also the difficulty of the enemies ramps with you which makes it easier for casuals. I pretty much sucked at it but if I made 10 super meals I could get through any boss. I would recommend starting with BOTW since TOTK builds on it. I think playing TOTK first would spoil the “marvel” of it all.

i enjoyed the climbing aspect of the game, just a monsoon rolling in whenever I went to scale a cliff and my upgraded climbing gear doing nothing about it always sucked. there's always ways around issues, just wasn't sure if they actually addressed it. happy to see so many folks enjoying it, seems like if you liked 1 you'll enjoy 2.
Can confirm there is an in-game consumable that address slipping 🙌🏾🙌🏾

My copy arrived yesterday, however….

I *almost* succeeded in finishing up the XC3 DLC before Zelda day. Instead, I needed yesterday to finish the last two superbosses and level up to 99. Can’t claim 100% because I didn’t bother maxing out community relations, but having completed just about everything else I think it’s time to move on. Neat ending to a decade-plus-long saga spanning three main games and another three meaty DLC stories (side note: Torna may be my favorite game of all six). Xenoblade has officially become my favorite RPG franchise.

Unfortunately I’ll be at my mother-in-law’s this weekend so it’ll be a few days before I can dive into TOTK. I may have to avoid this thread for a while to minimize spoilers since I’ll be playing it at a slow pace.

GameStop update , they finally sent an email saying their tracking system is down.

(Guess that means order status too. A simple shipped would be nice)

They send the FedEx tracking via email.

Between t ball season ending , a faulty AC unit , and Mother’s Day … I’m probably not playing until mid next week.

Every enjoy !

I really didn't play much ..I wanted to wait until I would have uninterrupted time in the evening, which unfortunately started later than I wanted and was falling asleep shortly after .. picked up a little this morning and knocked off the first 2 shrines, and unfortunately need to stop here for now.

having literally just played BotW things couldn't feel more natural and comfortable playing. Ultrahand is going to take some time to get smooth with, but it's already getting there for me, but holy hell, this mechanic feels like it's going to be so much fun!

definitely going to take this one much more slow than I did with BotW and really soak it in. hoping everyone's having a blast playing... and I'm sorry for those still waiting for deliveries to come through

I haven’t even sunk many hours into BOTW cause I came at it real late. I’m still in the process of playing it. But I was excited for Tears of the Kingdom and just didn’t want to wait. Picked up a copy yesterday and yeah it’s easy to jump right into the gameplay. The ultra hand is a cool feature but I’m still kind of bad at it.
