Wow I’m several pages late to the weapon degradation chat, but I just want to put in my two cents:

I’m an rpg item hoarder: if it seems limited or hard to obtain I just hang onto it. I just figure I need to save healing items for real tough fights, or don’t want to waste resources I’d have to farm later. Some games reward this, but not a ton. Usually I end up with full pockets, weight management issues, and so on.

The weapons degradation aspect of BotW (havent booted up TotK yet) led me to hoarding and horse trading; I’d be constantly comparing drops with my full inventory of breakable swords, often finding nothing worth picking up. Victories didn’t feel rewarding, and once the weapon quality plateaued I lost a sense of progression.

It’s definitely more a me-problem but the mechanic led to a glut of resources, not a scarcity.

What I've learned now with my limited playing so far of Tears of the Kingdom is that if you don't construct a thing pretty perfectly, it probably won't work the way you intend. And I actually appreciate that. It feels grounded in the reality of physics. And I didn't really think I would be so into that side of the game, but here we are. I've had to stop myself from keeping playing tonight for fear of losing several hours.

After the club, go to Truffoni's for sloppy Links. They'd say, 'No sloppy Links,' but they can't stop you from ordering a Link and a glass of water!

Fairly certain I've died more times in the past few days than I did in my entire BotW play through.

I'm getting clobbered, drowning, falling off stuff, getting blown up. The ways to perish are as numerous as the crazy things I've been building. I feel like a test pilot. I've cooked and eaten more food than I ever did previously.

The game feels so familiar yet it's entirely wild in new ways. I'm completely overwhelmed by all the things!

Enemies feel tougher for sure and I’m finding myself missing the Bomb and Stasis runes 😅. Guess they were a crutch last time.

Yup, I've done the 25 minute bomb toss before at a Hinox when I was underpowered. Hehe.

I've stumbled across a few big bad things while roaming about and I've noped out on them all. 😅

Basically running around exploring and looking for Shrines.

there's some videos out there with people making crazy builds, like Mechs, and Big Rigs... but one thing I saw that I'm not sure I ever would have though of, is people are making cages or enclosures to capture enemies for easy kills, or to catch horses... so simple yet brilliant

Just got the Amazon email informing me that Hogwarts: Legacy for the Switch has been delayed until mid-November…

Ah well I guess that will give me the time I need for TOTK plus backlog.

These shrines have been very difficult I think….the building of rigs to complete them have been rough…I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it soon but damn
