S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 came out last week. Been playing it a bit. While I'm enjoying it overall, I'd say wait until a few patches are in place. Playing on PC, and there's quite a few performance issues. My PC's far from optimal, but better than the minimum specs (still rocking a 2060, min. is a 1060, recommended is 3060). I will occasionally get instances where the frame rate drops to a slideshow for about a minute. Thought it was just the first town in the game that had a bunch of NPC's, but I've had it happen out in the zone where there's nothing else going on around me. Saw some complaints about the stealth too, I'd say that's fair. Enemies spot you VERY easily and from angles/situations that a normal human wouldn't (far away, pitch black, etc.). Heard some complaints of them seeing you through walls, haven't encountered that myself. That being said, this series has had some jank from the get go, so I was expecting it, and I'm sure things will improve over time.
On the positive side of things, this game is still very much like the others. Brutal even on normal difficulty, the Zone is unforgiving and will kill you quickly. The game is pretty generous with the checkpoints though, so you don't ever lose too much by dying. If you haven't played one of these, it's a survival style game in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. As a Stalker one of your main objectives is finding artifacts, mysterious pieces that came from the fallout that give powers and abilities. Fallout is a somewhat similar comparison, but this is like the hardcore version. No VATS, no radar for enemies, no grenade warning markers, you have to use your intuition and senses to avoid death. Lots of exploration that may be boring for some due to how sparse things can be, but it always feels like danger is right around the corner, and I really enjoy that. Something about moving from one dilapidated building to another in a nuclear wasteland just really does it for me. Not much in the way of music out in the wastes, but in areas that are populated, the songs I've heard on the radio have been really enjoyable. No idea on the lyrical content, but sounds good to my ears!
