Everything Video Games!

Excited that pikmin is coming to switch.
Not excited about the price tag. Really thing a 49.99 Wii U port is fair. I would give Mario kart a pass for full retail.
That being said , my Wii U copy works fine. Will probably grab the switch release when it goes on sale somewhere.

doesn't the Switch version have added content not in the Wii U version?

I'm really excited about Crash 4 after seeing the trailer today.

I mostly liked N Sane trilogy, except for the hitboxes in the first game, but this looks great. Specific levels for Cortex and Dingodile, inverted mode looks fun, and no mtx. I'm definitely biased since I liked these games so much growing up but this looks exactly what I'd want from a new Crash game.

Finally bought a Switch.
What games do I need?
(other than Zelda of course)

It depends on what kind of games you like. I’ve spent about 1,000 hours on Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Skyrim, and Final Fantasy XI combined.

Zelda and Super Mario Odyssey are the must-owns. Probably Mario Kart 8, too. Everything else is debatable.

One more thing: I’d actually recommend playing Odyssey before Zelda. It’s a much shorter game, and once you immerse yourself in Zelda it may take a long time before you come out of it. They're both amazing, Zelda arguably a GOAT to me personally.

Been losing a lot of (maybe too many) hours to Dead Cells recently. Really enjoying it and great re-playability.

I've actually had it sitting in my Steam library for a good while now, but I got it at the same time as a bunch of other indie games on the cheap (My Friend Pedro, Katana Zero, Little Nightmares, Limbo, Inside, Hotline Miami 1/2) and it kind of got lost in the shuffle to all those other games. I think I may have played 30 minutes or so when I first got it but I didn't find it as immediately engaging. TBF, some of those games I mentioned are so immediate and in-your-face (e.g. Katana Zero, My Friend.., Hotline Miami).

But now that I've gotten the hang of and preference for weapons and a playing style, the game really comes together. It's fun seeing the new sections and having to learn the combat styles of new baddies. All-in-all I'd give it like a 7.5/10.

I feel like it's strongest attribute is that it can be a good filler. For example, I'll probably put it down for another game that I'm waiting on playing/coming out or piques my interest, etc. But I could see myself keeping it downloaded on my PC and playing it between other games when I don't know what I want to dive into or just want to play a quick run or something.

I listened to all the Harry Potter novels while playing Dead Cells. So now I mentally associate the two. It's weird. Great game, though.

Pikmin 3 is great. Maybe my second favorite WiiU game after BoTW.

I’m another note I don’t understand why people like procedurally generates games. They seem to exist purely to waste time.

You mean like Roguelikes? I’m not super into them typically, but I did spend a lot of time with Slay the Spire, and enjoyed it very much.

Yes, I think 'procedurally generated' is more descriptive than comparing to a game no one has played.

I've tried a few (Spelunky, Darkest Dungeon, the new Superhot) and I get the appeal for your brain, but it just seems lazy on the developers part. A way to make a game infinite.

Roguelike and Roguelite are literally the genre names for procedurally generated games. Roguelikes is a perfect description.

Grabbed doom 64 on the eshop sale. It was a delight to be taken back for a few hours. Nostalgia is a wild thing.
I grabbed DOOM 64 and DOOM 3, at those sale prices it was hard not to despite my gigantic backlog.

while they're not my favorite I have played some great Roguelikes/Roguelites that are a ton of fun and challenging. I'm not sure why potentially infinite replay value is a bad thing, but to each their own.

I mean I just think it's boring intellectually. I get how it scratches that itch that some people need games for (and I like in some mindless stuff) but with those I just get bored really quickly.
