Cody ChesnuTT - The Headphone Masterpiece

Perfect Saturday Morning Record. Cody made an album that is equal parts Prince and Bob Pollard. I remember discovering him prior to him blowing up following his collaborations with The Roots on “The Seed 2.0”. When The Strokes were at the height of their popularity he was a buddy of the band and the song “Look Good In Leather” was on my “getting ready to go out” CD-R mix for much of 2002.

He opened with a 3-piece band the first time I saw The Roots and they absolutely shredded. It was awesome. And he was sick as fuck too, drinking orange juice out of the carton. He came back out for The Roots' encore and did "The Seed 2.0" with them. It was awesome!

Incidentally, Concert Archives just informed me that the second time I saw The Roots was 18 years ago today

That woulda been awesome to see live. Prime ChestnuTt and The Roots.

Concert Archives emailed this morning to tell me it was 22 years ago today that I saw Chesnutt open for The Roots.
