Anyone here use insole inserts in their running shoes?

I ran in an older pair of Saucony shoes this week and they gave me pain in the ball of my foot. I hadn’t worn them in a couple of months and that hadn’t happened with them before. In comparison, my current rotation of New Balance and Hokas aren’t super comfy and wish they had a tad more cushion. I also blocked plenty of running shoe ads on Instagram and now it seems I’m getting nothing but insoles, so it has me thinking if they work/are worth it.

Not for running shoes, but I got some Superfeet insoles a couple months ago because I love chucks and it's been a night and day difference

I hurt my foot pretty bad a couple years ago, had to do physical therapy and such. I never tried insoles, but it was the point I switched from whatever inexpensive running shoes I could find in my size (14 wide) to using Hoka Bondi 8s, which at least compared to what I was using before are super padded. It's also when I started tracking mileage on my shoes and retiring them at 400 miles.
Yeah! I like my Hokas. I have had Arahi (?) that were more supportive but I eventually ran them down. I have some Clifton’s and Speedgoat’s currently that are great. Recently had a coupon for a store so I got a pair of New Balance super cheap and while they’re fine, I wish they were more plush. Hoka’s aren’t super plush like you said, but compared to other shoes they’re much more comfortable.
