Fresh Grabs

Various ‎– Chef (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Lee Morgan ‎– See Autumn (Picc-A-Dilly, 1980 First Pressing)
CALIFORNIA COOL: West Coast Cover Art (Collins & Brown, 1992)
Gil Evans (Jazz Masters) by Raymond Horricks (Spellmount Publishers Ltd, 1984)

A great bundle here. The Chef album is my favourite film soundtrack, its just uplifting, funk and infectious. Well worth listening to (and watching the film!) if you haven't already! The Lee Morgan is an interesting one. Earlier in the year I went down a rabbit hole which focused around a session at the Here / Now Club in San Francisco in July 1970, a few days before his famous 'Live At The Lighthouse' session at Hermosa Beach. I recently discovered that whilst the obscure 'Lee Morgan - All That Jazz' double LP I picked up a while ago has a lot of this session, there are a few tracks which were not included. These missing tracks seem to be included in this 1980 pressing 'See Autumn' and includes closing announcements from the gig. The California Cool book is a bit of a rarity (I saw this and the 'East Coasting' book at Honest Jons from an eye-watering price) but I managed to find this superb copy for cheap online! Finally, the Gil Evans book which is part of this great series called 'jazz masters'!

I loved Chef!! Have you been watching the Chef Show on Netflix? You can tell Favreau and Roy Choi really love to cook together.

Recent arrivals include my first VMP delivery. Mildly hesitant as can't listen to them still so a shrug as to whether they play well, but they arrived in immaculate condition and look great for now at least. Aretha was for my partner and her face lit up looking through it. Blackalicious is such a well produced package and the records look lovely even if there's less variance in the colour to mine (more of a warm plum with light tones). Still stunned that there was a Dua Saleh record on VMP and really happy to have them in the collection.

Van Morrison as well, what's left to say there. Moondance is incredible and brings forth so many emotions on a listen. Wanted His Band & The Street Choir as it's one I haven't listened to as much and thought it would be an interesting counterpart.

The Mofi sleeves are in there too as have been waiting a long while for them to arrive and glad to have them ready for the Spin-Clean
💪 ⭐

Aretha Franklin – I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You (VMP Purple & White)
Blackalicious – Blazing Arrow (VMP Red / Yellow "Blazing Galaxy")
Dua Saleh - Nūr (VMP)

Van Morrison – Moondance (Orange)
Van Morrison – His Band and The Street Choir (Turquoise)

Just checked. Damn. Great soundtrack awesome movie
Its insane isnt it! I have had it in my wantlist for ages and checked ebay every now and again. Im not sure what kind of numbers they pressed but it seems to be like gold dust. I bought it for the standard RRP from a shop in France and the guy 'joked' that it was definitely the last copy for sale in France.......im beginning to think he wasn't joking!

The CD version has been in my Amazon wishlist from before I started getting into vinyl. One Day! You've got a belter of an album there, enjoy it!

Oh for sure, I was super lucky to of spotted it. I played it first thing this morning and my girlfriend came in from the other room to ask what was playing because it sounded so good! Now that's a record worth paying for :ROFLMAO:

Might have an idea which could help you here. Try downloading the Google Translate app. It uses the camera function and translates text live (as in it will change the text it 'sees' through the camera). It works surprisingly well, although it does it word for word so some sentences might not make complete sense. Really useful if you are on holiday and are struggling with menus, street signs, etc.

So I gave it a try:

So it was OK for, definitely not perfect but good enough to understand what it was saying. Then I tried to translate a long text and...

The legs are light in the year baby.

Me Against the World is my favourite rap album. I was delighted when they repressed this..it's the gold variant from his website.

Felt the need to have a white colour pressing of this legendary Oasis album.

And well amidst the Fiona hype I felt it would be good to give it a shot to see why people rave about the sound quality of this pressing. I personally never found the album to be my thing when I listened to it digitally but maybe a good pressing will change it for me.
