What does FNAC stand for out of interest?
Where did you pick up those two American Soul Music compilations? I'm really keen to get them but having difficulty finding anywhere European that has either...Last couple of weeks. I gotta slow down a bit, and sell a few things. Amazing how much money you don't spend on other crap during a pandemic. Thankfully.
Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher
Herbie Hancock - The Prisoner
Hank Mobley - Poppin'
Stanley Turrentine - Comin' Your Way
Tortoise - TNT
Wooden Shjips - West

My local had them. Music Millennium in Portland. Haven't been going there much, but saw they had these in stock today. Website isn't great, so can't find them when looking now. @hatfieldpdx may have grabbed his somewhere else. I think Mississippi Records here in Portland puts them out, but not totally sure.Where did you pick up those two American Soul Music compilations? Thanks both - I picked up 1-3 at Honest Jon's in London in January and loved them so much. I'll email them and see what they have to say. Love some deep soul...Mississippi Records, the parent of Cairo Records, has an excellent retail shop here in Portland along with decent distribution to local shops. I have the first three volumes and was delighted to walk into Music Millennium today and see volumes 4 and 5 sitting on the new release shelf. That said, I expect these will go very quickly. If you want to ask about Europe distribution, you could try emailing them here: orders@mississippirecords.net
You bought 3 of them?

I've been eying that Way Out West box set but haven't pulled the trigger yet. And those Mosaic boxes are becoming harder and harder to find at decent prices. I think I have the Bud Powell BN box and then two of the less popular ones. Didn't even know they made this Cecil Taylor one. The sound quality is great on them. Let us know how the Cecil box is...I'm seeing one for $175 on discogs right now which seems to be a pretty good deal compared to the median and low pricing.Well today's packages are very special!! I actually ordered these early last week with next day delivery but UPS never delivered and instead said they needed to be picked up from their depot miles from my house. The seller rang and managed to get them redelivered and they went and posted them at a completely different building. I was super lucky as a previous resident of my building had moved to this other one a few weeks back, recognised my name, and text me. Screw UPS is the moral of the story here. Anyway....on to the good stuff:
Sonny Rollins - Way Out West (Contemporary Records, 2018 Craft Deluxe Edition Box Set)
This box is incredibly well made and includes the Stereo pressing of 'Way Out West' (heavyweight vinyl) and a newly released 'Alternative Takes' LP. Also included is a Liner Notes booklet with unreleased photos. Looks fantastic!

Cecil Taylor And Buell Neidlinger – The Complete Candid Recordings Of Cecil Taylor And Buell Neidlinger (Mosaic Records, 1989 Limited Box Set)
This one is a mega rarity and one which I got at a complete steal after I threw a low-ball offer expecting to receive a counter-offer and instead the seller accepted. While this box set is already quite rare (limited to 7500 hand-numbered copies), this copy is even rarer as its a special one-off set which was given to the jazz journalist 'Steve Voce' for him to check and review. Its a mega 6-lp set covering all of Cecil Taylor And Buell Neidlinger's Candid recordings, many of which were unreleased until this set came out. While Taylor and Neidlinger are credited as the main musicians here, Archie Shepp features on almost all of the tracks along with Steve Lacy, Charles Davis, Clark Terry, Billy Higgins and Roswell Rudd. I cant wait to sit down and properly listen to this while reading the book. Super excited!

I only recently pulled the trigger on my first Mosaic, and now I have The Complete Candid Charles Mingus, The Complete Blue Note/Pacific Jazz Clifford Brown, The Complete Blue Note Fourties Ike Quebec And John Hardee, and now this. I cant get enough of them. As you said, the pressings are fantastic and im a big fan of the extensive booklets that come with them. I really want to hunt down a copy of the Tina Brooks (the complete Lee Morgan would be a dream but far too pricey).I've been eying that Way Out West box set but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Yea--they are a BIT easier to find in the US but people have caught on to how good those boxes are and most if not all are out of print now and limited. The Bud Powell one is great but I personally don't spin it a ton because it has a lot of the same songs but just different takes on it, so my fiancee kept asking why we were listening to the same songs on loop on a record haha. I still regret losing an auction on some of the Miles box sets. They went for around $150 on ebay and it was too expensive for me at the time. Now they often sell for $300+.I only recently pulled the trigger on my first Mosaic, and now I have The Complete Candid Charles Mingus, The Complete Blue Note/Pacific Jazz Clifford Brown, The Complete Blue Note Fourties Ike Quebec And John Hardee, and now this. $175 is less than I paid for this but still a lot less than the average (6lps worth of music at that price isnt too bad when you consider the extras and limited pressing). I honestly got lucky, the seller knocked a third off his asking price, I doubt I will find a deal like this again.
Ah man I have had quite a few of those 'if only moments'. The Miles ones always seem to demand a high price. Honest Jon's here in London had one of his sets for around the £350...ouch.Yea--they are a BIT easier to find in the US but people have caught on to how good those boxes are and most if not all are out of print now and limited. Back before quarantine, my fiancee took us on a surprise weekend trip up to connecticut to get out of NYC and when we got there she said she looked up record stores for me and there seemed to be one that specialized in Jazz that was right by where we were staying. I looked it up and it was Mosaic but unfortunately it was their headquarters/office and not an actual shop haha. I got really excited for a minute when it popped up on google maps
