Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad ‎– Jazz Is Dead 1 (JID, 2021 VMP Exclusive Pressing)
Roy Ayers / Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad – Jazz Is Dead 2 (JID, 2021 VMP Exclusive Pressing)
Marcos Valle / Adrian Younge & Ali Shaheed Muhammad – Jazz Is Dead 3 (JID, 2021 VMP Exclusive Pressing)

I decided to go for all three of the VMP exclusives of the JID series. I have streamed all of them on and off since their release but never bought them for some reason. I actually went down to my local to get one of them a while ago but it sold out the same day they got them in. These look great (haven't played them yet) but each one had seam splits to the inner with the loose paper all over the records. The white die-cut outer outer 'pouch' had lots of loose card in there as well, so pretty messy overall and a good clean was needed. @Andy I think I saw that you had one arrive? Was yours similar with the seam split to the inner and loose paper?

Nucleus - Alleycat (Vertigo, 1975 First Pressing)
Art Blakey And The Jazz Messengers - The Witch Doctor (Blue Note, 2021 Tone Poet Pressing)
OutKast – ATLiens (LaFace Records, 2021 VMP R&HH Pressing)

A nice mix here with the big find being Alleycat. I have been diving into Nucleus' music pretty intensely for the past few months now (British Jazz-Rock led by trumpeter Ian Carr), playing them every other day and streaming the ones that I don't have on vinyl. Alleycat has alluded me for quite a while now, I have tried biding on a few copies in the past couple of years but it goes for mental money. I saw one copy go for over £120 which is pretty crazy considering it's one of their later releases. The other day I ALMOST had a copy after chatting to someone that was selling a bundle on ebay and just after she accepted my offer of buying 1 individually someone bid on the set and she didnt want to cancel. Luckily this minty copy became available on a different website. With Alleycat I now have all of Nucleus' Vertigo releases on vinyl (I will add a pic of all of them). The Art Blakey was a cheapo ebay win which I cant wait to hear, and OutKast is the VMP pressing which sounds fantastic!

The Tubby Hayes Orchestra - 100% Proof (Fontana/Philips, 1972 Signed Pressing)

This is a bit of an oddity. I have the album already as part of the Tubby Hayes Fontana Years box set (which is superb) but this caught my eye as the inner sleeve is signed. I have another Tubby Hayes signature which I know to be legit and it compares very well (plus the price he sold it for was the same as a standard record so he certainly didn't inflate it because of the signature) so I'm pretty confident its legit. Quite a nice oddity and assuming the inner comes from the actual record, Tubby would have signed it the year before he died (album was reissued in 1972 and he died in 1973).

Nice haul. I'd like to dig into the Nucleus set but I'm going to resist that rabbit hole for at least a few months.

I was being restrained & just got the Roy Ayers. My copy doesn't have any seem splits but it was a big box delivery. I haven't played it (or cleaned it) yet, but it does have bits of paper from the sleeve, the vinyl is thin and looks to have a dish warp.

Yeah, they are definitely an interesting group to dig into and each record has a slightly different approach. I'm not usually into jazz-rock as much as straight-ahead jazz, but this is really great.

Damn, my Roy Ayers felt like it had a warp as well. It 'popped' a bit annoyingly when I flexed it, haven't had a chance to get it on the platter yet though.

Bewithrecords has done a reissue of Roots. Highly recommended, also the artwork is great on that.

Excited about this Santana - Lotus Mobile Fidelity Japan pressing. It's 3LP's and I've read a lot of good things about its sound. If the attention paid to the artwork is any indication, some care went into producing this thing. (Only 9 days between a shipping notice from jpc.de and delivery.)

Visited a new-to-me shop on Friday. Super nice owner (Byron) previously had a shop in Vermont.

Hop Fidelity is the store, located in West Chester PA.

I did NOT expect to find this there, or to spend as much on a single item, but here we are. Can’t wait to give it a proper spin and listen. FF781D77-39C8-4392-80B2-6D45C820E45D.jpegB13D478A-6DFD-48F3-9554-2F5B2F7B5984.jpeg

The records look flawless from appearance, even though the box has a few minor dings.

Now playing the very first side and the band is already in full gear.
Amazing! The more I see this the more im really hoping it makes it to the UK. Amazon are supposed to deliver it on Friday so I really hope they do!!!
