Some record shopping in the UK! UK First pressing of Atom Heart Mother. A2/B2 RL cut of Houses of the Holy. Pecko Duck / Porky cut of Zeppelin IV. Early UK copy of Diamond Dogs.
And @Joe Mac I FINALLY found a good copy of Van Morrison - Tupelo Honey. All of these were found in Notts, of all places!

Zeppelins and Bowie were from Rob's Records which is madness inside. Just floor to ceiling records, none very organized. pigeons kept wandering in since he had the door open and he kept chasing them out haha.Awesome! That’s a great haul! Which store in Notts did you find them in!

The others were from Big Apple Records. There are two shops in West End Arcade (Big Apple and 33 Records) which were decent.
Those are the types of places I have always found the best stuff, you might have to spend a 1/2 day diggin though. Did you have tea with him? Im so glad you went here! Its amazing isn't it, utterly manic. He still uses a massive Record Price Guide book to price everything as well.don't think he had room to make a cuppa! this is what the place looks like inside:

I will never forget when I was digging in If Music is Soho when the owner, Jean-Claude, asked if he could pop out to get some food and leave me digging. He tried offering to get me a coffee and I declined, and when he got back he had bought some sandwiches in case I was hungryThose are the types of places I have always found the best stuff, you might have to spend a 1/2 day diggin though. I was there for about 2.5 hours then had to leave. Could have been there all day. There was a "new arrivals" section just inside of the door so started there and went around. it's VERY loosely organized into genres + new arrivals. But I'd say more than half the stuff is underneath other boxes of vinyl.Where do you start? How many hours did you spend in there?
Completely impossible to go in there. You can see through the window into that room from outside and it's just absolutely filled with junk. The OCD part of me wants to live here for a few months and try to somewhat organize the shop and clean it out hah. He mentioned pricing stuff from his books as well.I have mentioned this before, but to the right of your photo you might have seen hints of another space? There is a staircase around the corner that leads to another room upstairs. Supposedly this is where the rare stuff is kept and is arranged neatly.....not sure when the last time anyone was actually able to get there was though!
Oh yea--there were 3 people in there shopping at one point and that was stressful. Can't move around in there at all. But he knew the names of everyone else shopping there which is pretty awesome.Which exactly why with about 10 people in there (it was either Boxing Day or the 27th) I popped my head in and thought, nah, maybe next time

He's an interesting guy. Been buying and selling records for 40+ years and started as a northern soul DJ i think! I imagine he has some really rare stuff (if he can find it!)

Someone asked him if he had any Van Morrison and he instantly knew what he had in new arrivals. They had an OG of His Band and The Street Choir. His prices were not too awful to be honest. The shape of things was all over the place but a lot of the records were in better shape than I expected (sleeves were rough a lot though). Most expensive record I saw was an OG UK of Zeppelin III for £40. Almost everything else I saw was under £10.Hahaha! I was actually talking to someone I know over there recently and he said that despite all the chaos he has a firm enough grasp in his head of what he has and where it is. If you ask him for say a stones record he can kinda go “I had one over there” and help you find it!
Also yeah stores like that always end up with a crew of regulars thats for sure!
I didn't make it to more shops in Soho but sadly didn't have time when I was in London. Really wanted to go to If Music. I went to SOTU and then Phonica I think. Picked up only new records there -- the Sault album I didn't have and Shades of Blue by Don Rendell/Ian Carr. I'll get there next time though!I will never forget when I was digging in If Music is Soho when the owner, Jean-Claude, asked if he could pop out to get some food and leave me digging. Very expensive shop but great customer service haha.
Finally got George Harrison - All Things Must Pass on splatter vinyl. Credit (blame?) goes to @Joe Mac for recommending them. Tracking hasn't updated since it was shipped on the 20th of August.

Annoyingly, they shipped it in just the brown product box the album comes in which isn't designed for that so it got damaged in one corner. Time to see how The Record Hub's exchange policy is for buyers outside Ireland
