Fresh Grabs

John Surman • Alan Skidmore • Tony Oxley – Jazz In Britain '68-'69 (Decca, 1872 First Pressing)
Stan Tracey - Jazz Suite: Inspired By Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood (STEAM, 1976 First Signed Pressing)
Neil Ardley - Kaleidoscope Of Rainbows (Gull, 1976 First Pressing)
Philly Joe Jones Sextet - Blues For Dracula (Riverside, 1986 OJC Pressing)

A nice mix of albums here. The Jazz In Britain is an album I have been searching down for a long while but typically listed for £80+ which is too much imo. This copy popped up for less than half that so I swooped in. The Stan Tracey is a really interesting one which often gets confused as a reissue of his more sought-after "Under Milk Wood", but actually its a live recording with the poems narrated over. This cost me £15 (a bargain) with the super cool bonus of being signed by the whole group - Stan Tracey, Dave Green, Bryan Spring, Art Themen (on the rear), and Donald Houston (the narrator). Kaleidoscope Of Rainbows is often referred to as being one of Neil Ardley's best and its a really affordable album to find too. Finally, Blue For Dracula always shoots up in price closer to Halloween (figures!) so I picked up this OJC copy early.

Michael Garrick Sextet "The Hobbit Suite" - 18th November 1974 Programme

Here's an interesting purchase, a programme from a Michael Garrick suite which was never recorded, unfortunately. There's some great photos in here plus a double-spread interview with the pianist/composer. I would love to have heard the music, sounds really interesting from the write-up.

Haul from the last 3 weeks. Haven’t had a chance to spin anything yet, but the turntable should have a busy week, since I still have a backlog from before I went on vacation and still have some large orders coming in courtesy of Target and Record City JP 😳

New stuff, all from the postman

Top row was my VMP box waiting for me when I got back from vacation. The 2 Blue Note Classics came from @Ethos99 Paladin. Cookin Soul Wu Xmas finally came via Qrates. And grabbed a couple recent Kikagaku Moyo represses.

Been looking for a copy of that Rene & Angela for a while now. Pete & CL is an og euro copy. Psychoanalysis is Prince Paul’s weirdest work. Love Real Estate, but wasn’t aware of this early EP, curious to hear it.
