I always laugh a bit when I read on discogs "In original shrink". So the person was too cheap to buy an outer sleeve and instead left it in some tight shrink for 20yrs?

Yeah honestly I didn't even notice it in the listing. Thankfully it's not tight. But I'll probably remove it.

This is pretty 80s sounding, which for me is NOT a selling point.

I always laugh a bit when I read on discogs "In original shrink". So the person was too cheap to buy an outer sleeve and instead left it in some tight shrink for 20yrs?

There are lots of collectors, some of whom are in our midst, that don’t like to ruin the originality by taking off the shrink, they just make a slit in the open end to take out the records. They’ve never seen the inside of any of their gatefolds. They do often still put them inside an outer sleeve. It blows my mind.

I have a few records with the original shrink on them. It's not tight or warping the record. The reason is the hype stickers!
One of them looks like this:

It’s also kinda just crazy. If you don’t enjoy and use these things what even is the point in having them.

I'm trying to decide if I remove the shrink on this one. Generally I always do however the one thing that this has going for it is it's got that top obi and those things are pretty annoying in terms of staying in place and the shrink nicely holds it in place.

I rip shrink off gatefolds and if there aren’t any obis or hype stickers. I have records from the 60s/70s and while the shrink does get crusty, it doesn’t seem to have harmed the integrity of the record/jacket.
