Grado Cartridges and Stylus - Questions and Advice.

@dbarila That looks good, alignment wise.

I think the album needs a good wet cleaning. That’ll likely solve everything.
The wet clean fixed the skipping (or so it seams) but the voice still sounds kind of distorted. I suppose that I don't know that it's always been that way so I'll just give it some time with my normal listening habits and see what happens. I tried a couple random tracks off the new Tame Impala and latest Coldplay and they all sounded fine. Thanks for all your help!

This thing does sound great though! The bass sounds so much smoother and natural and I'm hearing a lot of small details that I haven't noticed before.

If you like it now, give it 20 hours or so to settle in. You’ll like it more.

Says the guy who has 10 hours on his 2 week old Gold3. Work and a nine week old puppy are wearing my ass out.

it seems the major criticism of grado cartridges is how they track the groove.. they aren't as exact as others

i dont know how much this matters but i dont mind

Depends on the application really. They track plenty good enough for most home listeners. They’d be a horrendous choice for a DJ.

also coincidence in the newest post of the schiit headfi

  • There are always large differences between phono cartridges. This should be expected, since they are actually transducers. What’s interesting is some very anti-Grado folks turned over to liking Grado once the logos were hidden. Hmmm!
