Hip Hop

Also (I'm on my drive and always find shit I forget I had) if anyone wants the Kids See Ghost Camp Flog Gnaw video or the Ye listening party in Wyoming both are linked (Ye is below) For some reason KSG only works on Mobile but both videos play fine

Side note: Kim wiping Kanye's tears away during the end of Wouldn't Leave is one of the most beautiful hip hop moments in recent history

That's like saying Liam Neeson in Taken was better than Liam Neeson in Schindler's List. They;re both great for very different reasons. But more importantly, where is the MachLib record? or MadHommy?
I'll agree with this. Gibbs is not for me, as much as I try. I can respect that he is talented, but I just can't stay interested in his subject matter. Coke rap just seems very samey to me song after song but I can give the benefit of the doubt that it's just me.

But to compare himself to DOOM's style of abstract lyrics is just weird. I don't know how to begin to compare them and it just comes off as hubris to me.

I mean, to me technically Gibbs is a much better rapper but as far as bars are concerned Doom is very tough competition

So when you say technically you mean everything but lyricism/wordplay/rhyme scheme? Like flow, breath control, stuff like that? Just trying to make sure I understand you.

also to be fair, while I haven't listened to the whole response I heard enough to know that the headline is a bit click-baity. but he definitely said "I know Doom can't rap as good as me".

yeah, just Gibb's overall ability strictly on the mic. trust me, Doom's no slouch but Gibbs is a better spitter in my opinion. not even saying that I prefer Gibbs, though I might, I just think as far as rap ability is concerned Gibbs is better.

Man, I love Gibbs and I would say he is generally a 'smoother' rapper than Doom but MF been rapping for 30 years, had so many different styles and pretty much killed them all. I still think Doom is a better rapper but I'd rather hear Gibbs material more now.

Oh I think I can agree with you there, at least somewhat. I guess the problem for me is that I value the lyricism more. To me "rap ability" isn't that important without the lyrical content. If I zone out and don't pay attention to what Gibbs is saying on Bandana, I totally dig the sound and his "technical abilities" like you say, but when I focus I'm like oh this songs about coke/sex too...cool. I'm not trying to talk shit, I just don't get it I guess.

Did you see this? I like their tweets. Never checked accuracy though.
