Hip Hop

Not sure if anyone cares or is keeping up but last night Dan from Mass Appeal, Mike Chav (jay's engineer from Act 1 days, "Chav said eff that roll the sack"), and DJ TJ the legendary DJ for Jay all popped in to drop gems:

Dan re: the Into The Light doc filming in Nepal: Craziest thing is they got stuck on Mt. Everest and had to stay the night near base camp. Jason Goldwatch, Jay E, and Rob stayed too long shooting when weather rolled in. They had to stay with some sherpas in a small house up there. The sherpas made them pasta and Rob had a bottle of jack. Jay gave one them his polo parka the next morning. Original Plan was to release alongside an album. Film contains 3 unreleased tracks. One was called Shanti and was the song for which a video was shot at base camp, mt Everest. There is a 7 minute version of Dimethyltryptamine, and I’ve pitched roc nation and tidal more than once on releasing ITL, but Jay E also has to agree on a deal so that's where we are

Mike Chav re the good ol days: I met DJ TJ working at Guitar Center. We started Act 1 in a spare bedroom in my apartment. That was around the time or soon after I met Dilla and helped build his studio. I smoked a blunt 5 days a week with him for a year.

DJ TJ random spews: He's gonna do shows next year and perform stuff from Act 2 Written Testimony, and the usual stuff.
He was working on new material last few weeks but then Erykah's mom passed away.
There will most likely never be an Act 3 unless the act 2 leak gets enough attention and praise and Jay doesn't feel pressured.
There are another 14 songs or so from Written Testimony that are more than demos and drafts from Jay and Jay but he doesn't know what they'll do with them
Jay E finished 5 albums between 2012 and 2016 but none have came including one with Mos Def and one with Mac Miller. He may randomly drop them, he may give them to a random kid at the apple store, or he'll never drop em because he doesn't care
There are exhibits B, D, E, F, and G with appearances from Mos Def and Royce that we'll probly never hear

Best tidbit was:
Kanye was the reason Act 2 kept getting delayed once the decided upon tracklist was posted to twitter. Kanye owed him 2 verses Rough Love and New Illuminatti. Everything was mostly in place (the original version was done in 2010 but they kept tweaking, adding, and removing til they got basically where they wanted) Then Kanye kept holding it up, Jay had the Rothschild drama and a daughter to worry about, and lost interest and scrapped the idea altogether by the time Kanye finally gave the verses to him......in 2013

Man, fuck Kanye. My funny Jay Electronica story is that before I heard of him he was opening for Mos Def at a small venue here and nobody I was with wanted to get to the show on time, because they didn't want to listen to electronica music. :ROFLMAO: We still got there in time to see some of his set but everyone was talking at the packed venue so it was hard to hear him well. Then we had to wait like 2 hours for Mos to come out. Still was an incredible show, but I wish everyone had been more keyed in to the Jay Electronica set.

Is there anyone Mac miller didn't work with?

Is there anyone Mac miller didn't work with?

Factual lol There is a clip of mac being interviewed for WMWTSO and he hints at Jay's feature but wont say it and hes just fanning out. Chav said Mac was the biggest Jay E stan in any room at any time and Jay loved Mac just as much back, anyone else woulda got a talking to on stage in the middle of Made in America by Jay E for forgetting their verse during his set, but him and Mac's relationship was just special

This is an older episode but for Armand Hammer fans or those interested it's a good listen.
The interview starts maybe 20 or 30 min in so you might want to fast-forward a bit
