Immerse Your Soul In Love - The Radiohead Thread

For Amnesiac there is a weird one with XL sleeves and Parlophone discs. It sounds really good.

For Kid A it really is OG Parlophone or bust in afraid. There were two initial presses. The UK one that is LPKIDA1 that is very expensive or the EU one with the longer catalogue number that is just standard expensive.
Because I am weak and impulsive, I grabbed UK first presses of each of these locally today. I have a problem. 💸💸💸😂😂😂

The UK LPKIDA1 is mind glowingly good. Absolutely destroys the red vinyl reissue. Wow.

It really is. The mastering on the two European OGs is streets ahead of anything that came out afterwards. It really is a pity that Parlophone never repressed that one because my experience is that even the later Parlophone represses of their other albums were exceptional, it was just that Capitol were shit and XL use awful pressing plants.

But what is more frustrating is that once in awhile, xl releases a fucking banger (orange anima) that thing sounds glorious

All of my parlaphone Radiohead is so good. Why change the mastering to something that’s already done so well. Anyways, didn’t love the cost but the sound is worth the price of admission.

FWIW, I emailed XL last night saying I was disappointed with the inner groove distortion on my red Kid A vinyl and asked for a replacement disc. They responded this morning that they’d send me a new copy.

@Crabbers let me know if you want the contact info…

I think XL, and even sandbag have been open to replacement discs/copies on the red and black. The whole kerfuffle has been over the fancy edition. They won’t admit to the problem for a repress and it’s limited so no spare copies to swap. So the biggest fans who spent the most are the ones getting fucked over the most.

Matador must handle their distribution? That’s probably a good thing. They have always been good at handling issues with damage or defects. Unfortunately, I think the distortion is a pressing issue so I doubt a new copy will rectify the issue but it’s worth a shot regardless.

A pressing issue could likely be fixed in time. My feeling is it’s digital clipping from the mastering, the digital versions were always cut pretty hot too.
