Immerse Your Soul In Love - The Radiohead Thread

Ok, peeps. Anyone want to weigh in on the best pressing of Ok, Computer?

Hopefully a great pressing at a non-ridiculous price.

Ok, go.

Very funny on both of those... 80+ for a very good version.

So what your saying is buy the most expensive version I can find from Parlophone?

Are all the Parlophone’s that expensive? They were pressing them into the 2010s.

Basically the Parlophone’s were cut from the tapes and all sound very good, even the later ones.

If none are affordable then you’re in XL land. None sound as good, are from digital transfers of the masters. Avoid the shitty US Rainbo pressings and try and get an EU Optimal pressing. In XL land OKNOTOK sounds no better than standard but the extra disc is nice so worth getting, you don’t need the blue one.

Wasn't oknotok also recut and remastered from the original tapes?

I think it sounds very good but it's different from the original mix and I like that mix much better. Seems to fit the album better in my opinion than the remasters.

I don’t think so. From what I understand they made digital transfers of the original tapes for all the albums in the period between King Of Limbs and A Moon Shaped Pool and those have been used for all XL reissues. I had a 2013 Parlophone which I stupidly PIFed when I got OKNOTOK and it was a fair bit better than it.

Hmm so the original advert is confusing. It talks both about being from the original tapes and a high quality digital transfer. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Aren't the strips of tape of the deluxe AMSP from the masters supposedly? 🤔 Up to In Rainbows I think?

Master tapes this, digital transfer that. I say pfft to all that! Give me the unorganized, low quality MP3s of OK Computer I downloaded from WinMX back in 2008 - I will accept no other substitute!

I see that and raise you my super compressed CD rip circa 2000 from when I used to try and fit as many mp3s as possible onto a CD-RW to play through Winamp while chatting to people on aol messenger through my dial up Internet connection

I remember the pains of having like three different versions of one album show up on my iPod Nano because of some random irregularity in the metadata. Over here we have "In Limbo" and "Morning Bell" and then over here are tracks 1 through 5 and then a third Kid A that has half of a Green Day album stuck in it for some reason...

Not all, however they drop off from 80$ + to 40$ so I was sure those were not the droids I was looking for.
