Go on, geezer.
Interesting outcomes today.
This season is a write off and just needs to be over. It effectively ended when Ole was sacked and we’ve been saddled with a Director of Football attempting to be an interim manager which has given him no authority to do a job that he wouldn’t be up to regardless.
I'm really surprised how poorly the players have responded. Like a lot of those who are off in the summer - aren't you interested in impressing your potential suitors and raising your value? Those that are staying for sure, aren't you keen to stake your claim in the next managers plan?
I can't believe this group worked so hard in the last seasons - finishing second, getting to the Europa League final. So much positivity at the start of the season. You get Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo, and now it's turned into an absolute nightmare.
I mean it's clear the midfield was the problem last season but this season we've been so poor when we have the ball and absolutely brain-dead in the back four. It seems every time the opposition gets into our final third they're destined to score.
Doesn't make it any better with Liverpool and City having the seasons that they are. Things have been bad since Fergie left but I think this is rock bottom right now.
I can't even feel complete joy in the win today.
So what time did it used to start at? What time do you meet up at the pub? Just curious. We tend to get where we’re going at 10am and start drinking, so you have a couple hours head start for an NFL game at noon. How do y’all tailgate?Once you get over about 20 C, not sure what that is in F but it’s not as high as 100, the type of football that involves high pressure tends to become less effective and possession games favoured in warmer climates become better. It was at most 15 this morning though lol.
Honestly it’s much more likely that the early kick off was to blame. I get that it’s there for the Far East market on tv but fans and players hate it, it’s just not when you should be playing football. The players in particular abhor having to have huge plates of chicken and pasta at 8 or 9 am to take on the necessary protein and carbs for a match. Fans hate it because you’ve to be at the ground a midday, that’s shit at home because it takes away the experience of meeting your mates for pints first and the whole fun, away it’s a nightmare, especially if you’re playing the other side of the country.

Well you can’t drink on the streets in Britain. Also you can’t drink in the stands, only the concourse behind the stand, it’s a criminal offence to drink on a stands. The location of the grounds; and particularly the older grounds isn’t conducive to either driving to or having tailgating plus it’s just not a feature of our culture.
For a 3pm Saturday, the traditional and perfect match time for a fan, may routine would be maybe meet in town for a pint around 12ish. Get tram to near the ground. If with one group might head to a fan pub near the ground for a singalong a pints 1ish. In the ground between 2.30 and kick off. With another group maybe stay in town for pints and head out for 2ish and go in the ground, maybe have a couple of bottles on the concourse before going out for the match.
After, likely go home for something to eat, shower and then meet again in town for the night out later.
Thank you for your response! The other thing is away culture. We have a huge culture of taking thousands of away fans to matches. A midday kick off in say Southampton is a 6 hour trip from Manchester. That’s just shit. You’re on a bus at 4 or 5 am which fucks up your Friday night out and isn’t exactly a fun trip with your mates having a few cans and a sing along.
Thank you for your response!
I get it now, especially the away aspect. Our cities are usually so far away that those fans going to a game are staying overnight anyway.
You aren't even allowed to drink in the concourse in Scottish football; you can at a rugby game, but they don't trust football fans (with some good reason, unfortunately). The only way you cab have a drink at Scottish football is if you take out a hospitality package, where you have a meal before the game.
Been to a few Aussie Rules games since I got here, and I'm loving the experience. You can have a pint, bring your own food in, and the atmosphere is definitely less hostile than football is. My team is winning everything, which is a nice bonus!
Loved watching Berbatov. Great player.
I remember watching that LAFC doc a couple of years ago. It was crazy how there was already a ready-to-go supporter club for the team before they even played a single game. It's interesting because LA already has the Galaxy and not that long ago there was Chivas USA too. They either weren't fans or were hoping for another club to come in? Very strange.
What is that one where he just casually jogs up field after starting the play and just ends up in the right spot and the ball is in the net?
Are there any apps that youse can recommend for keeping up with English Soccer and or other leagues. I already use the PL app and I’d rather not use the ESPN app.
I’ve been using The Score app on my phone for years and years and it’s really good for all major leagues. They’ve got almost all major football leagues that you could want unless you want Belgium second division or something super obscure. Are there any apps that youse can recommend for keeping up with English Soccer and or other leagues.
