It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

I remember watching that LAFC doc a couple of years ago. It was crazy how there was already a ready-to-go supporter club for the team before they even played a single game. It's interesting because LA already has the Galaxy and not that long ago there was Chivas USA too. They either weren't fans or were hoping for another club to come in? Very strange.

It felt like management really did a lot of groundwork early or at least in the 4 years before they started play.

How the police officers on that day avoided criminal prosecution is a national scandal. 97 people should not lose their lives supporting their team due to national ambivalence and police prejudice and incompetence.

It was rather bold for the higher ups to perpetrate a cover up such as this. I was glad that the family members received the closure they were wanting so badly.
The anniversary footage was moving.

Nottingham Forest. 79 and 80.

Which is actually directly after Liverpool in 77 and 78.

Four to England in a row in a run that ended up being 6 English title in 7 years (Liverpool 81, Villa 82 and Liverpool in 84 are the rest).
Brain Clough ..what a legend ....I r member that Trevor Francis header ..the first million pound player

Looks like the non-Old Firm Scottish football fan dilemma is going to happen again. Not a fan of both teams, but them doing well in Europe is good for the game, so you wish them well, then inevitably the fans will go and trash Leipzig town centre...

Can you imagine a Rangers West Ham final. Two groups of far right ultra nationalistic fucking idiots. It’d be carnage.

Never thought of that. You're not wrong...

I was watching the end of the West Ham game and the draw came up and the realisation dawned on me. I was still living in Manchester when they fucking annihilated the city centre before and after the final they lost to Zenit. It was actually scary leaving work to go home from town that night. Such a stark contrast to the Juve Milan Champions League final a few years before which was just a big fun street party!

Why would they do this??

Fuck knows. Probably the new foreign owners decided that him and his football wasn’t fashionable enough for them. Deaf to the fact that Burnley is probably one of the least fashionable towns in England. Back to being a perennial championship team that occasionally dropped down to league one for Burnley. If you were an ambitious championship side you’d have to go after him, he’d be perfect for the likes of West Brom.

He’ll absolutely get snatched up by someone either in the Championship or even the PL. maybe the likes of Everton if they stay up. Or one of the promoted teams if they don’t think their manager can do it.

This move would make more sense if it was done back in January where an interim manager can maybe help them but it’s too little too late. And without Dyche in the Championship I bet Burnley don’t come back up for a while.

I disagree. It makes no sense at all. Whatever the timing. Everything he’s achieved over a decade on, lets face it, a middling championship budget should buy him years of patience. And even if you thought that way he had a gazillion games in hand in January so it was really hard to tell what their true position was.

I think he deserves a shot at a club the size of Everton for sure but I don’t think he’ll get it. I think Everton will look at the money they’ve spent and the big shiny new stadium they’ve built and go not fashionable enough. I don’t think that’s right but I guarantee that’s the line. I’d like to see him go to a club that he can have time to build at again, which is why I think ambitious championship, it’d be a pity if he ended up being another Big Sam style Premier League survival expert who doesn’t get to put down any proper roots.

1-0. We’re shit but 3 goals might entertain me and united are hell bent on a course to drive me into deep depression this year.

Oh wait! The TV company have chosen not to air our game. How wrong is it that i now feel like an obligation and huge weight has been lifted from me!
