It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Yes and yes

Yes and it depends. It’s become more of a custom of late but the premier league actually makes the call on that and traditionally they were quite strict about surname. When Hasselbaink joined Leeds at first he wanted “Jimmy” on the back and they refused. I’m guessing that the different naming traditions in Spanish & Portuguese, and probably particularly Asia, have kinda made their old school stance of only a surname pretty untenable.

Gotta say as clueless as he seems as a manager Rangnick has gone up tenfold in my opinion of him after this briefing with the written press, the honesty is searing and rings true

It must be the German in him that just tells it like it is. When I’ve seen his post match interviews or quotes from him it’s refreshing, regardless of the result.

For fucks sake. Handball while lying on the ground isn’t a penalty. A coming together is. Arteta can approach the referee and file up the crowd during the check with no sanction. Go fuck yourself Pawson.

I take back what I said about lots of calls going in Untied’s favor. They’re getting shafted today. Arsenal on the other hand seem to be getting everything right, like they’re using up some saved up luck over the past two games.

Arsenal were the better team. But it was tighter than it was for a while. There were some weird decisions in the first half but they just outplayed us in the second half.

Missed pen decision on the Cedric handball, marginal offsides on the second Ronaldo goal, Bruno missing the pen (Ronaldo probably should have taken it), possible offsides in the Xhaka goal that wasn’t looked at. Arsenal we’re definitely better, but if decisions had gone even slightly in United’s way it could have been at least a draw.

For sure but some of them were just bad luck too. When you’re down on your luck it doesn’t rain, it pours.

This Burnley/Wolves game is an insanely good watch. Aggressive but clean tackles flying in like crazy. Burnley are staying up!
We started with the Leicester v Aston Villa and it’s a 😴. Except for when the defender launched and flipped himself in the air.
