It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Watching the replay, looks like Tuchel had a problem with Conte not making eye contact.

And he confirms in post game

There hasn’t been post matches on the tele here yet. But Conte is the kinda guy that I’d imagine it’s easy to have a problem with, he’s abrasive as hell, but equally you love that being on your side, I used to love Fergie doing the same.

Nothing from Conte yet. Coming up though. It’s just funny to see them chest to chest. Don’t think I’ve seen that before.

Also Graeme Souness likes football being “men at it” with no referees stopping it. I really wish someone would say to him “isn’t a two footed challenge a knee height also cheating Graeme?”

Conte. It was a forceful handshake but he was the one that snapped.

It looked to me like Tuchel would not let go of his hand because he was trying to say something and Conte didn't look him in the eye and just kept walking

Probably more not up to speed. The pace of the premier league is much higher than Italy and it can pay dividends to ease a player in to begin if you’ve capable alternatives.
He’s been at Chelsea for 3 years now but really hasn’t done much. Been injured too often to really nail down a role or show any consistency. I think he’ll move on after this season is over.

Sorry I completely miss read that as Perisic. My bad. I think Pulisic will suffer from Sterling arriving. A more decisive version of a very similar style. Consistency of fitness and form had probably been his Achilles heel, the occasions when he’s been at his best has seen him look unplayable.

Quick thoughts on the Chelsea vs Tottenham match - as a Spurs fan I'm quite happy with the point. This is the sort of match they lose 0-2 or 1-3 in years past. They may not have deserved either goal (questionable but I could see both being disallowed) but the fact that they kept fighting and got the point in the end (on the road!) bodes well for their season.
