It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Me- hey, Liverpool actually pulled off a last minute deadline day deal for a midfielder which was desperately needed.

Also me- hey Liverpool signed another midfielder with a history of injuries to complement a midfield with other players who are constantly injured.

Well, better than nothing, right?

He’s a really good player who sets the tempo well if he can stay fit, it’s kinda what you’ve been missing since Thiago got injured although he’s probably a bit more conservative.

At what point does Leicester consider sacking Rodgers? They play Brighton this weekend and then have Villa to follow.
If the team is hurting financially, would it be better for them to go down to Championship? I’ve been under the impression that it benefits the club to be promoted.

It’s still a fair way off I’d say, for three reasons. One, historically I’ve not been a fan but he’s done an unbelievable job at Leicester, they’ve punched well above their weight since he arrived. That has to buy him some patience. Two. Is this his mess? Or is this a severely weakened team from last year. The keeper left, the best defender left, the best midfielder is playing like he has mentally left and the talisman is beginning to look his age. They’re also deliberately not spending for FFP reasons. Three. His issues at Liverpool and Celtic were man management and hubris, he always was a really good coach. He might be their best chance to stay up given two. Is there anyone on the market who could do a better job?

Steven Gerard has to be favourite to be sacked next. He’s spent a small fortune, his record since arriving at Villa is shocking and they’re playing much worse football than Leicester from what I’ve seen.
