It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

No fair play to Frank he’s got them fighting. The lack of goals does mean I don’t see them too half either.
Yeah they obviously need to score more. But structurally they’ve improved massively compared to last season. Upgrade on CBs, Gueye and Onana look really good together on the ball. I think they’ll do just enough to be like 13-14th.

It's always amazing to me as a fan of college football that attends an intense rivalry game every year that supporters of different European and domestic clubs are deliberately guided away from one another to maintain safety. Obviously history plays a lot into that with past tragedies, hooliganism, and inadequate police support.

Every year, I attend the Texas OU game at the Cotton Bowl in Fair Park. It is located in South Dallas which can be a high crime area so you have to be aware of your surroundings if you park in the surrounding neighborhoods. There is a light rail station at the front gate of the area so you can take mass transit to get there. The game usually kicks off at 11:00 am. The location is inside the State Fair of Texas. It's already a crowded location because the State Fair has regular visitors that decide to attend even though 100,000+ people will be there for a football game. You have Texas and OU fans, most hated rivals, all co-mingling in the same area for about 3-4 hours before kickoff. Massive amounts of beer are consumed as the Fair sells all types of beer. There's cheering and jeering back and forth but for the life of me, I cannot recall any big fights, even after a bitter loss by either side. You even have OU fans sitting in the Texas section and there's never an issue. I've waded through a sea of OU fans after a Texas upset win. Never have I gotten a shoulder check or a word other than "good game" or "we'll get you next year". Maybe I'll get a horns down but that just makes me chuckle since at least we got the win.

Those pictures of the overcrowding make me sweat a bit. What a horrific scene that must've been. Perhaps we just cut Paris out of future UEFA plans. Also, f the French police and UEFA in general.
