It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

You really are obsessed with people loosing their jobs right now…

Only one really. I think Cooper was extended which is good because there was a smidge too much turnover in the roster for him to be the fall guy.

Even though I’m new to this sport, you can generally tell when a coach has lost the room and this is what it looks like to me.
I know the majority of this comes down to the players performing, but you can’t sack the players right now.

I kinda don’t see that. I see a side shorn of 2 of its best players and the talisman finally having gone over the hill. The squad needed significant investment in the summer and didn’t get it. The owners were worried about FFP and their financial exposure. Whomever Leicester bring in this is a year for finishing 15-17 and consolidating in the summer to go again. There looked to be plenty of fight there on Monday.

Rodgers is far from my favourite managerial personality and I find his penchant for constant positivity hugely annoying but he’s a good coach whose done more than anyone could have expected with this squad and he deserves the opportunity to undertake the rebuilt unless their position become perilous and it’s not there yet in my eyes, they’re still very much in touch with the teams above.

I also hate the “sack race” and the constant speculation around peoples jobs but maybe
thats just me remembering a simpler time.

I understand that there weren’t any significant changes to the roster. Not sure if still having Kasper would make a difference now. I can’t really comment on Fofana because he’s hurt again.
There’s still time for them to escape relegation but it’s not looking good.
Bournemouth seems to be playing better since their sacking.

There can always be a new manager bounce, but it’s debatable whether that continues longer term. Particularly if there are structural issues in a squad. With Leicester last year it felt like the squad needed a refresh so loosing big names without bringjng anyone in was a double blow.

On the other point I still think Bournmouth will struggle this year regardless. They’re low on quality. Coming up against a big team and taking a beating could cause another spiral. Plus Parker was an annoying tit so I can imagine him being gone would lighten the mood somewhat.

Today. I think the takeover was confirmed publicly just before the match.

Who is he?

He’s responsible for hockey in Las Vegas.
Vegas Golden Knights(🤮) and the Henderson Silver Knights(🤮)

He’ll probably not be afraid to spend money but he says stupid things like the VGK will win the championship within 5 years of their existence. I believe he was also interested in bringing MLS to Las Vegas but backed out.

Rodgers always seems to have 2 good seasons then a dodgy third. Remember that happening at Celtic, and did that not happen at Liverpool?
