It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

So apparently all of the ball over all of the line means that it’s not only that it’s not touching but that’s it’s not overhanging. A bit like when you take a corner and the ball looks out to the quadrant but so long as part of it is hovering over it, it’s in.

Was that missed 2nd goal by Canada still touching the line? I thought it was a bit over but not completely like you said but maybe it was still physically on the line. Close one though.

I can’t remember it. Was it in the second two games? I only saw the first game and the second half against Croatia.

But if it’s a goal they have hawk eye. It instantly sets off an alarm on the refs watch if all of the ball is over all the line. I’ve only seen it fail once when the ball was trapped between the keepers body and the post and they blocked off enough of the the hawk eye cameras to kill its ability to tell depth.

This morning against Morocco. Header from a corner hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced on the line and out (and then got headed on top of the goal). Canada was actually pressing pretty well in the 2nd half.

Ah I was still at work, those are all 3pm here.

If it’s for a goal it’s being measured by those cameras so I don’t think it would be. VAR doesn’t even get a call in that, it’s an instant decision communicated to the refs watch.

If Spain score Japan would be at 4...same as Germany if they happen to score...with the same GD 👀

EDIT: Ok so Germany scored lol

Yeah, I didn't give much thought to it. You could tell it was still a smidge on the line and I know they check everything.

Yeah it’s why Japan were going though when it was level earlier. Japan through on head to head because they beat Germany.

Germans need to either score 7 in the last 4 minutes, themselves and Spain to score 1 each or Spain to score twice.
