It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Just realized these next two games are essentially for the league for Wrexham. Barring some disaster, if they win Friday, and then Monday against Notts, they are up 6 with a game in hand with only 4 more to play!

I hope Notts County go up one way or the other. Oldest professional football club and it’s been sad to see them out of the league for so long. I suppose Nottingham really is quite a small city for two professional teams.

They’re also the reason Juventus play in black and white stripes.

i think at this point it has to be Wrexham and Notts. Notts have been so dominant as well. That would be ideal

It’s just a bit lame that the second place team could be denied by 5th because play offs. There should be play offs because of the excitement and the revenue they bring to lower leagues but it somehow feels less objectionable in championship and league one where it’s 3-6 and league two where it’s 4-7. Especially so given Wrexham and Notts County are both miles away from 3rd, never mind 5th.

absolutely...there should be a mercy rule where if the 2nd team is 20 points or more ahead of the 3rd thru 5th lol
can you imagine how tragic it would be if one of Notts or Wrexham lose in the playoffs considering how dominant they both have been?
dont jinx it! that would be lame

That being said Wrexham making it is going to make season 2 of the show JUICY!

there was another rumor this morning that Enrique was in London to discuss Chelsea (or maybe Spurs, but probably Chelsea). I was hoping that still comes true because Chelsea would be off the table for a new manager since Enrique is not a caretaker. He'd be given at least a whole season next season. Lampard coming in means Chelsea are still figuring it out, unless Enrique is just given the job in the summer rather than now.

From what some of the better British journalists are saying he was/is and those talks were real and there is a feeling Chelsea aren’t going to just go for one front runner. Rather there’s a process and they want to interview up to five and pick the one who impresses them the most.

sounds like something a mostly competent club would do! I hope he goes there because I don't think he's that good as some other options and I think Spurs would need too much of an overhaul to play his style. Spurs have been linked with him too. I don't think we do anything until the season is completely over.

Funnily enough I really rate him as a manager. I wouldn’t have been at all disappointed had he turned up at united. Of the other options I’d only be favouring Poch over him.

yeah, I'd rather have Poch or Nagelsmann. Poch is probably more realistic. Spurs are also sniffing around Arne Slot from Feynoord who I really like based on what I've seen. Would be a good plan B if those other 2 don't work out.

I’m utterly unconvinced by Nagglesmann. He’s had a lot of hype and has a lot of supporters based on very little of actual substance yet. He’s still yet to be much more than a Diet Pep and he comes across as an incredibly high maintenance character.

Feyenord manager would be a huge gamble. I thought ten Hag was a gamble last year and he’d been at Ajax and won leagues and gone deep in the champions league. The quality defect between the two leagues is pretty stark.
