It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Swap Bournemouth for Sheffield United and that’s where I am down.

Not sure up, championship is way too volatile to call.
I could see that

I’m considering putting our new guy in but I’m also concerned that he’s going one of two ways. It’s either going to be perfection or he’ll end up making Massimo Taibi look solid…

Whilst you’re all probably still saying Massimo who I’m going to roll with a joke like it’s 1999!
How’d you make a Venetian Blind?
Put him in goal For United!

Idk how to do the spoiler thing but I'm throwing my money on your new guy lmao
Turner is absolutely not going to Forest! We were got there first in offloading our unwanted keeper! You go find your own dumping group!
The deal is as good as done I'm afraid 😆

You press spoiler and it reveals the spoiler…

But but so is the Henderson one supposedly!

Damnit boojy I’m burning North London to the ground if we’re stuck with that arrogant jumped up little shit stain this year.

Oh I bet Joe is gonna love this one

So I thought I do like this one, let’s do this thing. Maybe with a 7, but no name because I'm an adult man so I don’t have another adult man’s name on my shirt.

Then I see it’s €100, or €108 with the 7. Fuck me that’s steep!

Sky are reporting Bayern have upped their offer for Kane to €110m (£94.5m).

It’s got to be close now.
Can I get a quick "transfer window for dummies" explainer? Is Spurs looking to "sell" him as his contract expires at the end of the season and they think he's going to leave then so might as well get something for him now? Will that money be earmarked for a replacement? And does the amount of money have any bearing on how much Kane gets paid moving forward or is that just between the two clubs?

Spurs don’t want to sell him to another English club at all. They’d rather he ran down his contract.

They will sell him abroad but Levy is a bit of an idiot in negotiations and will often push them to the brink of collapse in an attempt to squeeze even 1% more.

Spurs if he stays will hope that they have a full year to convince him of the Ange project and to get him to resign. They are also in a bit of a catch 22. The champions league may also be worth a similar amount to the them as Kane’s fee. With him they always have an outside chance. Without him, barring miracles in coaching and receruitment they look every bit as power puff and mid table as pre 2010 spurs sides always were.

A complication is that supposedly the spurs owner has told Levy to sell him if he can’t get him to sign a new deal. I think Levy would probably play hardball and refuse the deal across the board otherwise.

Kane looks to be comfortable either way. Bayern have sold him this year and he’d be happy to go. He’s also happy to stay. Next summer his options really open up. He can go anywhere, be that elsewhere in England where spurs won’t sell him or elsewhere in the continent where they wouldn’t pay his fee this year.

The least likely outcome at this stage is that he signs a new spurs deal.

As for the money that’s solely a transfer fee between the clubs. There may be a cut of that to any intermediaries that the clubs have paid to act on the deal. Kane’s remuneration is a separate negotiation between him and Bayern. The press rumours are that there’s already a provisional agreement in place on that. The press speculation again is €25m a year, so €480,000ish a week gross, plus a colossal signing on fee.

This all makes sense. Spurs would be gambling big time to keep him for the season on the off chance they make a run at Champions League but if they do I could see him wanting to stay in England since he's close to the EPL goal mark (he is, right!?)

I would love for them to sign him before the season starts but don't think that's happening so would rather wash my hands of the situation so it's not hanging over the club all season.

If they did sell him: they'd have to use some of the money on a replacement but the window closes in 3 weeks so they'd have to be very quick. The money made off the sale is between the two clubs. Kanes contract and wages would be between him and Bayern if they bought him

That being said "using some of the money on a replacement" isn't the reality because a price tag of his size is usually paid out over 2 maybe 3 installments, also agreed upon between the clubs

He isn’t close enough for this year but he probably is in 2 or 3 season. He’s 50ish off Shearer’s 260 in the PL I think. As a sidebar English football existed before 1992, so I’ve always though that was a fake record and he’s about 140odd off Jimmy Greaves’s top flight record, but I digress lol.

The champions league is a big draw but I don’t think that keeps him. He’s reached a stage where he needs some silverware to go with the goals. Spurs may qualify for the champions league but they aren’t getting any silverware in the cabinet any time soon.

True but the incoming transfer(s) would be structured in the same way so it also kinda is. I’d guess 75% of the fee would go into Ange’s pot.

I’d have no idea who they’d sign though. There isn’t much out there up front in the current market.

Yea I was going to say...striker market is scarce this window. Only person I could think of is Neymar. He could teach Richarlison to finish
