It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Go look at the teams in EL. Like half of the Prem could compete

Because the quality of teams is worse given (a) wider pool of teams that qualify for UCL and (b) no more UCL teams dropping to the UEL in the round of 16.
Idk about that. More access is going to lead to more "shocking" upsets imo. The exclusivity of the old format with UCL teams falling down limited the scope. I think their are a gang of teams that would normally finish outside the europe spots in Bundesliga, LA Liga, Seria A, and Ligue 1 that can do some damage given the new format. Look how Hoffenheim beat up on Bayern in the bundesliga this year and I promise you Sociedad is gonna be trouble given how they got screwed in the CL round of 16 draw this year

When Spurs win the quadruple I hope you all remember this

(Editing in /s, I’m not THAT sick)

Yeah and when it gets deep in the grind of the Premier League often sees teams legs ground down by teams that are on paper worse, like Sevilla or Villarreal and so on.

If Spurs win the treble I'd congratulate the Spurs fans, log off here, and never return cuz lordy that would be it for me as an Arsenal fan or I'd be old as shit by that time and shouldn't be on the internet

The quadruple tho! 😆

Oh I forgot to tell u all. So when I made my betslip for relegation/promotion from prem to championship back in August. I made it a 2 leg parlay instead of 2 seperate bets and since I got 5/6 I lost my 20 dollars lmao

You’ll be fine. Spurs winning 1 trophy would be a shock. 3 takes like 30 years.

And fwiw it's been so long since Arsenal won the double I'd forgotten what a multiple trophy season feels like but I'm sure we will get another done before Spurs finally do it

I’ve seen a few. They’re fun. 93/94 is still my favourite. Can’t beat King Eric downing the scousers in 95/96, the treble, and so on and so forth. The perspective does sometimes help you get through the shit years.

When I "saw" us do it in the 2002 I was 10 and didn't realize the magnitude at the time. I just remember winning the title then hearing we also won the cup lol that was like my second year actually following a season mostly thru

Yeah the first trophy they won when I supported them is the FA Cup in 90 and I have no recollection of that, I was 7. I do remember all the trophies after that starting with the European Cup Winners Cup in 91. 92/93 was important as the first in 26 years that reopened the door and 93/94 was the pinnacle of the first great Fergie team before he broke it all apart and brought the kids in.
