It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Truly baffling group we have. Beating Real Madrid and Inter, but dropping points to the bottom of the table in the league.
I just hope Leao, Theo, and Maignan don't get sold before that fraud Fonseca is sacked.
I just can't comprehend that we somehow got sold to the worst American owner? Like Chelsea got sold to Todd Boehly out here spending billions and its finally working, meanwhile, Gerry sacked a club icon, sold another, and refuses to spend more than 25mil/player

It blows my mind that if you take out the game you battered us in we’ve got a marginally better record over the other 15, because we’ve been properly shit whereas you play nice stuff but are a bit fragile.
I was thinking about this a few days ago. In the games we’ve lost, we’ve been really, really shit. But we’ve still only lost by 1 goal each time. If we could have been just a little bit better, or could have nicked a goal against the run of play there wouldn’t be so much negativity. Feels like that hasn’t happened at all this season. I don’t feel like there’s been any luck in games where we play poorly. I think we’ll see which Spurs shows up today right from the get go.

I honestly think we’d be mad not to play like we did against city and arsenal and play a little deeper, but still try and get on the ball, and look for spaces in behind.

To highlight my earlier point about injuries, our bench today is:

- four players who've never played a single second for the first team in any competitive match and one who just got their first minutes this week
- an outcast (Reguilon) who has yet to see the pitch for us this year
- two kids who've barely cracked the match day squad (Bergvall, Lankshear)
- a gassed Brennan Johnson

If anyone goes down hurt we are doomed.

Porro and Bissouma are back! Glass half full

CBS pundit: “they beat City, they beat Southampton, and lost everything else in between.”

Three draws and two (one goal) losses, but close.

I know Spurs' press is among the most intense in Europe, but I want every team to press like this. Seeing half the XI sprinting at the backline is just a joy to watch.

Maddison hasn't been good enough and we need someone who is going to backtrack and cover a bit. Kulu moving to the 10, Johnson on for Maddison to ease up some of the defensive load on Sarr. .Feels like United are going to stick Eriksen or Bruno on him to try to get a second yellow.

Nah United will leave them two where they are. Porro is making an absolute mess of covering for Bruno and Eriksen keeps finding him in space. Sadly then it all breaks down in and around the box but maybe a Diallo or Gsrnacho can add a bit more bite in the second half.

CBS studio saying "only" 8 goals from 22 games and saying they need more from Solanke. Tell me you haven't watched Spurs without telling me you haven't watched Spurs. His work rate in the press is next to none in the league .

They're overloading Porro. Kulusevski and Maddison aren't doing enough defensively. Kulu at least has something going forward. Maddison is a luxury player for this game and they should drop him to bring on Johnson to help with Porro.
