It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

Getting gazzumped by Newcastle in the final would be embarrassing for a club that hasn’t won a trophy in forever

Our backline today is likely going to be an out-of-position Djed Spence who has barely played this year in LB, an 18 year old DM in CB, our 22 y/o third choice CB in Dragusin as the CB, and a dead-man-walking Pedro Porro at RB who is running on fumes. Throw in Fraser Forster in goal and it's not a cup-winning defense. I want Spurs to win, but I am not delusional and know a team with like 8 teenagers in the matchday squad isn't likely to compete against the big boys.

Even United fans would call themselves a meme team right now. Amorim will get them sorted out in time, but the club is absolutely the butt of the joke right now and I don't think that's controversial in the least.

Shall we count our various domestic and European titles since you last won anything? Or maybe the four finals and two trophies since you last even reached a final, during a period where we’ve been pretty much routinely shit.

Like spurs’ empty cabinet jokes are so long running and oft repeated that it’s almost not funny, almost!

Meme team =/= meme club.

If you can stare me straight in the face and say that the last five or so years of United have been anything but a laugh fest, go for it. That's not really mt MO here.

Let me rephrase my earlier statement to get my point across: if this iteration of United beat this iteration of Spurs, it will be gross and I don't want it.

EDIT: I'm not a banter fan. That's not where I get off. I'm not here trying to send jabs for the fun of it: United ARE objectively dog shit right now. If you won't take my word for it, go listen to basically any pundit ever.

Yes we are and despite being dog shit pretty much since 2013, during which time you’ve had the best spurs team in my lifetime, we’ve comprehensively outperformed you in terms of reaching finals bringing home tin pots.

Pick your targets a bit more wisely.

In the US, I couldn't legally buy a beer for half the Spurs squad against Southampton. My expectations are supremely low until we get healthy again/January reinforcements. The fact that folks like Archie Gray have been playing at the level they have while being baby faced teens is remarkable, but it's not gonna hold forever.
Alright thats a little dramatic. There were 2 players under 21 that started that match

Meanwhile at "scum" FC we have been doing the same thing for months now with Ethan Nwaneri and recently Myles Lewis-Skelly

It’s not picking targets lol. I rephrased for clarity, but I’ll repeat: this United team is so bad, they have a roster full of overpaid and underperforming talent, and I will be annoyed if we lose to them.

To be fair the Robbie Keane/Jermaine Defoe teams were pretty great

Is today “take everything overly literal to score internet points day?”

Too busy at work to keep this going. Fare thee well.

Absolutely but I repeat a fan of a team that literally has millions of memes about how comically unsuccessful they are calling any other team a meme team is laughable. You’re really just a cockney Newcastle.

Sorry lol but I couldn't let it go without adding Arsenal have had it just as bad with injuries lol we are cursed as well!

Odegaard missed a couple months. Ben White out for months. Merino, our new signing just got healthy a month or two ago. Calafiori also out. Martinelli was out for a bit...It has been a cluster! Even Declan Rice has been injured and he NEVER gets hurt!

Both clubs are going through a transitional period. But you're contradicting yourself here with these two statements. Giving Spurs excuses why they might lose and then saying that if this United team beat this Spurs team it would be gross?

As much as United has been poor recently, you cannot say they haven't been successful with the two years of consecutive cup wins. Spurs would kill for those two trophies.

Arsenal are missing their starting LB, LCB, RCB, DM and GK, as well as their backup ST, RW and LCB?

There's an article out there but I don't have tim eto find it that basically makes it clear Spurs are hit the hardest in terms of injuries this year (insofar as players who see meaningful minutes).

I'm muting this thread until kickoff though, I can't get into this.

Okay. I'm moving on.

I want Spurs to win, I don't want United to win. That is all I am trying to say.

Yeah, although as much as I liked Defoe Berbatov and Keane was probably the best pairing they had around that time.

Was a very Spursy team though, entertaining but lacked that bit of backbone when the going got tough.

I'm convinced the Poch team of 2015-2019 would have won a lot had he been properly backed in Summer 2018, they were so close.

I'm not convinced they'll win anything with the Aussie Keegan in charge, although the ride will probably be a lot of fun.

Every single match that Spurs have lost this season has been by only 1 goal. So I think if you win it'll be close. Also if Spurs win it'll be close. I think it'll be a good matchup with where both clubs currently are.

It blows my mind that if you take out the game you battered us in we’ve got a marginally better record over the other 15, because we’ve been properly shit whereas you play nice stuff but are a bit fragile.
