It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

I guess there appears to be a cutoff time at the gates. Which is silly.

From what I gather there were huge transport delays getting from the city to the stadium, this is the first final since before Covid and they’ve ramped up security protocols in the interim and the French police are, to put it mildly, not the most patient. The media here is suggesting that they’re still filtering people into the stadium although there were worrying reports a bit earlier about tear gas having been used outside.

The panel had mentioned tear gas but not much actual reason why. I don’t feel like heading over to Twitter to find out.

Apparently, and this is more coming though from fan sources rather than official ones, they closed a gate into the stadium with people with tickets still outside. There was a surge and a bit of protest so they got pepper sprayed and tear gassed…

Hope everyone is safe, shouldn’t have to put up with that shit going to a match.

I think that’s a goal, ball looks like it was played by the Liverpool player…

Edit: not given. I think they’ve bottled that one.
German tv has ex fifa ref Manuel Graefe on stand-by to discuss such situations and he thought the decision was right because a Liverpool player might be the last to touch the ball on the pass but not in a purposeful play so the real players touch counts

Yeah our referee man said the same but being English obvs that bit of bias there. I get that it wasn’t a pass but equally it wasn’t a deflection of a play of the ball from a Madrid player either. It’s a really grey area in the rule tbh it’s probably one that’s not really wrong whatever decision you make.
