Clifford is from the streets of Westside Bankhead Zone 1 in Atlanta. His original stage name, T.I.P., it stems from hischildhood nickname "Tip", given by his grandfather. He later changed it to T.I. out of respect for label mate Q-Tip.

The first time I heard Amy was on the radio on my way to work back when I lived in San Diego the first time. The veteran DJ announced the song--the first time the station was playing it--with praise for her talent and concern for her decision to eschew rehab. The song was obviously "Rehab," and I wonder if that DJ still thinks of his words the first time he played her record on the radio.

Going with just another band from East L.A. First saw them open for the Grateful Dead in '88, most recently on a double bill with X a few years ago.

Since I needed to catch up, I decided to distract myself from the insanity going on out there by trying to find 3 albums that meet all 3 of the days at the same time, so here goes...

The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

From what I understand, this album was recorded in several different studios across the L.A. area. Brian Wilson wanted certain things recorded in certain studios in order to achieve a specific sound. The entire recording process is quite fascinating. Brian is a true genius and visionary.

Between “Alright,” “Wesley’s Theory,” and “Institutionalized,” felt today was an appropriate day to spin one of the most important rap albums of the last 20 years.
