Day 3 - Tolkienism
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on this day in 1892. Play something inspired by Middle Earth.

I'll leave the low hanging fruit and go with this one inspired by name only.

Ric Lee isn't well known but he's a bad man. His timing, precision and dynamics on a tiny kit are top shelf.

I'll bet @ranbalam will dig this one...

I’ve never read or seen any of the Lord of the Rings/Hobbit (save it, I’ve already had a friend declare this to be “a fatal flaw in my character) so pardon me as I Google this one. “The Wizard” is apparently influenced by Tolkien’s work.

The Mountain Goats - In League With Dragons

This one's a step removed- it's inspired by Dungeons and Dragons, which was so obviously inspired by Tolkien that his estate actually sued the game creators back in the day and changes had to be made to the game.

The Flaming Lips "At War With The Mystics" (2006 Warner Brothers)
Zeppelin was already taken and I don't have the usual suspects so I'll go with this. Album features a war and wizards. Space wizards, but who's counting? Sure, this pays homage to Pink Floyd and The Wizard of Oz more than anything. But, wizards, right?

I feel like there has to be a Jolkien Rolkien Rolkien Tolkien inspired song/album in my collection but I've been searching and can't find anything definitive. So I'm doing a little stretch with this one.

High Reeper - S/T

The opening track Die Slow is about magic and fire and death and weed. Which all seem like things Tolkien would approve of in a story.
