January Challenge - The Music Awakens…

January 7: Luke, I am your father - Darth Vader never says, “Luke, I am your father.” In actuality, he says, “No, I am your father.” Play something you misheard or misquoted.

It feels more like a modern myth than something that was oft misheard but the story for a while has been that the chorus of “Tiny Dancer” was at least misheard by someone at some point as “”Hold Me Closer Tony Danza…”.

Day 08: Anakin/Vader
Play an artist that changed (persona, genres or some other thing that made you view them differently)

The Men - Drift

While they don’t shift styles with the same frequency and aren’t nearly as prolific as the chameleon like King Gizz, I could play 3 different albums from The Men and they would sound like different bands entirely, on one record they sound like a contemporary of early 80s Sonic Youth, while on another they sound like they could have opened for Tom Petty and and the Heartbreakers or fit in seamless on a mix tape featuring The Stooges. Here they sound like they have been spending a bit of time with The Velvet Underground & Nico. Regardless of the style, the execution is flawless and the music is brilliant.

Originally a jazz-rock band that gradually started heading toward a soft-rock sound in the mid-‘70s and would go full AC lite rock in the 80s.

I listened to my CD of this:

I don't think I've ever actually misheard it as that, but I definitely mis-sing it as that all the time!
